Please don't forget helicopters advance physics
superfish128 replied to Japo32's topic in Arma Reforger - General
This is actually untrue, Reforger is the first game to be run by the enfusion engine. It's a common misconception though, but Dayz is still run by real virtuality engine, if you don't believe me look it up that's fine. Dayz only uses Enfusion for rendering and a couple minor things, but physics and the such are the same engine as Arma, also just a heads up for anyone else BI didn't develop Dayz standalone either, probably why helicopters are so different. Anyway jsut wanted to clear that up, I hope helicopters are done well as well, but we will see when they get here. I don't think there is anything to really worry about significantly. Arma 3 EA was worse than this -
Mainly Glib. I get what your saying man, I've been around since OFP as well. I do agree that the focus left from AI long ago, but what I feel your missing is this is a complete rehash, so yes I am being optimistic, because they have decided to start over again. If they were still using RV3 yeah I would 100% agree with you, but since we have nothing to go on I choose to be hopeful and I do feel like BI tries to listen to it's community where it is possible. Yeah I hope I'm right as well, but like I said I'm willing to say I could be wrong
-
Aww man I knew it! This is what I should have guessed all along! Hahah
-
Hahah I'm not really gonna say much cause I mean what you are basing anything about this demo is the same thing I am, there literally isn't anything to say that there is or isn't AI in the leak. It's all speculation, and yeah I'm more optimistic then pessimistic, it's true you can see the decline in the AI, but guess what it's a new engine with a new type of code than RV engine so you can't really compare this to that... Especially since all we have is guess work and a leak that could be faked (doubt it is but still could be). I'm not sure where you're drawing all this negativity from? Guess we agree to disagree 🙂 If the leak is the end all be all I'll leave this here, Pg. 40 in the pdf leak "✚ Multiplayer game mode, featuring competitive and cooperative gameplay". Someone can tell me how you have a military shooter in a coop setting without AI though
-
Marek (founder of BI) Is still there, I think his brother is as well (Cofounder), those were the two people that brought OFP to be real. I'm sure Magic industries, and codemasters did help out, but I'm not sure any of those people would be at BI. Also having arma 3 come out in 2013 I'm willing to say most devs that worked on 3 will have worked on this and will work on 4. Even if this demo is just PVP (which I still doubt) It's just to create more hype about the enfusion engine and create some extra money for the actual arma 4 game
-
It's their words as far as we know, I wouldn't say all demos are free. I get what you're saying though and agree that this will be it's own mini game that is a tease for arma 4
-
Yeah I agree, I didn't realize how quiet it was around here. So it's nice to see!
-
Sure, doesn't change the fact that most MP in the Arma series uses AI in a coop way which in that leak say that coop will be included. Everything is changed so how do you test if AI is better? By releasing it in the test demo. This all being said I could see AI not being in the initial release of the demo, but Arma 4 will have AI and I imagine we will test it in the demo at some point
-
I would agree with all that but add COOP, they know their player base and even in the leak talk about coop. It's just going to be limited to INF gameplay in the demo. I imagine the vehicles will be troop transports. I could be very wrong though Pg. 40 in the pdf leak "✚ Multiplayer game mode, featuring competitive and cooperative gameplay"
-
Indeed, I made this before the leak came out, but I think the demo was pretty obvious from what they have been showing and talking about recently. That being said only time will tell, my theory could still be wrong and who knows maybe they just announce they are making arma 4 and a release date and no demo
-
The leak actually talks about cooperative gameplay as well as PVP so doesn't mean there won't be AI. I'd be shocked to see it not have AI, but the possibility is always there, we don't know how old that leak is either, so I'm sure things have changed as well. Plus whose to say this wasn't just made up? Arma Reforger was leaked before "Arma Reforger delivers a polished sample of Arma 4 gameplay built upon our brand new Enfusion technology and serves as a “community foundation” release for Enfusion-powered Arma. The game provides tactical depth and yet remains accessible to a broad audience, including console users. It also supports user modification for custom scenarios. Set in an alternate 1989, players will develop a persistent military career and join either US or Soviet forces in a fierce battle for the strategic island of Everon." <- not sure how you deliver that with out AI either. Especially when talking about scenarios. People don't normally build a scenario (mission) that doesn't have AI. I think everyone is jumping to conclusions that we can't get to yet. The 17th is what we still have to wait for
-
It also says that modding support will be there, it will be like other Arma games, just small at first. It's not going to be arma 4, so yes maybe at the start no AI but it will come, they want to support it while developing arma 4 so I'd almost just treat this 'demo' as a early access testing ground for arma 4 and it's features

"We built our own engine to make sure we could develop our games exactly the way we want to. For example, we want to work with technology that allows us to create incredibly authentic open world terrains and nothing available at the moment satisfies our needs. Another reason is because most of our current games share a very distinct platform approach compared to a more standard "closed product" approach. In other words, we want to give our players and creators an open platform that offers them the same set of powerful tools that our developers use." Taken from the enfusion engine website

Hahaha That would be greatly appreciated thanks!

To add to the hype of the announcement of the news coming on the 17th I was reading one of the latest blog post from BI and found one of the headlines to be "It all started with a demo..." and honestly I didn't even remember that operation flashpoint had a demo, it was so long ago. https://www.bohemia.net/blog/bohemia-interactive-history-3. Now what are the chances that the demo was in May? There isn't really a solid date any where on when the demo was released. Would be a little strange since all of the teases so far have been of Everon right? Now to add to this theory and help from a friend that pointed out that the CEO of BI also made a twitter post of the enfusion engine and the title of 17+5=22. https://twitter.com/maruksp/status/1525171483995213824?s=20&t=Dz06eBujsEMXiE7lUtGiBA. This can be taken many ways, but when was OFP released? June 22. 22? Hmm weird. I know this is really just a conspiracy theory but yall can connect some dots here, there are some coincidences for sure. If I do end up being somewhat right and BI sees this, if I solved the puzzle I would enjoy a T-shirt or something 😉 I mean I could, and most likely am far off, but I think we may have something playable soon. Love to hear your thoughts, and if anyone can actually confirm the Demo release date with proof I would love to see it!
