IceFire 0 Posted April 12, 2002 I was playing that mission. And I am curious about something. About the scoring system. I am not nitpicking, just curious about something that I saw. When I played that mission. I think I played that one perfectly. I got all my men together to Goisse in good time and defended against the enemy attack. Infact, I think I defended against the enemy attack really well. The enemy started to retreat and I won within about 5-6 seconds from when the first shot was fired. I only lost 2 men, and the rest of my men were perfectly healthy. And not a single one of the other men defending the base (I'm not talking about MY men) even really had to fire a shot. The enemy attack was stopped before they even really got to the fortresses. Both BMP's were taken out really fast first. And the rest of the enemies dropped like flies in seconds. I didn't fire one round or grenade the entire mission. I just did a real good job of positioning my men and ambushing the Russians from the side. When I looked at my stats. I was a bit curious. I did not get a bad score. I got one star, and a score around the high 900's. But I was wondering what the reason may be for my less than pretty good score. Maybe it is because I didn't fire a shot? Maybe it's because I didn't position my men at the place the other officer wanted me to like sitting ducks? I dunno. Anyone know how this works?
IceFire 0 Posted April 12, 2002 And this was in veteran mode, in case that really matters.
Mask 0 Posted April 12, 2002 Well i think ur score depends on how much u kill infantry and armored vehicles. But few times i had something like i wasn't getting stars at all, just red cross marks, even though i killed at least couple of troops. Weird, but what can i say this game still rules no matter what! Aculaud 0 Posted April 12, 2002 well, the fact that it was in veteran mode was why you got a star instead of those little pearl things, in case you were wondering. Other than that, i would say you did pretty good. I wouldnt worry too much about the score you got. Little story: I played the mission Sabotuer one time, and it went like this. I didnt even stop for the ammo dump, i went right for the tank base. I got myself up on a hill and picked off everyone i could find with my HK. then, when the coast was clear, i ran down and got in a T-80 as a gunner. I blew away everything. A chopper that was sitting right there, a shilka, a bmp, four other tanks, a ton of infantry, and i even managed to take down both of the hinds they sent to kill me. then, i got in as driver and went back for the ammo dump at Levie. Killed everything there. Then, i went back to the base, got out of my tank, put all my satchels by it, and went for the resistance contact just seconds before i lit the thing up. My kills included over 30 infanty, 5 tanks, four BMPs, a chopper, a shilka, and four trucks. I didnt even break 10000 for that, and i only got two little pearl thingies. So, yeah. sometimes it doesnt think youre worth it, other times, it practicly knights you.

[EDIT] Scoring behalf of the Avon Lady That should give you all you need on how the game keeps score. Hope it helps!
IceFire 0 Posted April 12, 2002 Aculaud, how could you have done that in Sabateur? I played that tons of times and everytime I started to pick off men, all the tanks would start rolling around to find me. I could never really do well in that mission. You only get 3 satchels, so how do they expect you to kill alot of tanks AND destroy the ammo dump? And what do they mean by destroy the ammo dump? They mean just blow up the ammo crates there? Or take out all the infanry there? I dunno. I know there are 2 shilkas there. One is with the tanks and the other one is somewhere else. I figured if I could take out both shilkas, I can hop into the hind and start killing everything else. They send in other hinds to kill you? Can a hind kill another hind? I dunno, I have yet to figure out a solid plan to tackle this mission. Any suggesions? I do not have enough satchel to take out all the tanks, and getting in the hind always gets me shot down by that other shilka somewhere.
scout 0 Posted April 12, 2002 well, i actually get in the Shilka and kill every infantry around, that way the tanks dont get the chance to be used then i kill both hinds that come and then u walk, taking your time to one tank and blow them one by one. after u've done that u drive to the ammo dumo (the three trucks) and shoot em. and then drive to the contact and blow the tank with a satchel. all nice'n'easy

The "ammo dump" is comprised of a few ural fuel trucks. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (scout @ April 13 2002,01:38)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">well, i actually get in the Shilka and kill every infantry around, that way the tanks dont get the chance to be used then i kill both hinds that come and then u walk, taking your time to one tank and blow them one by one. after u've done that u drive to the ammo dumo (the three trucks) and shoot em. and then drive to the contact and blow the tank with a satchel. all nice'n'easy <span id='postcolor'> I cant see why so many people get in the shilka. You only get 2000 rounds for it which go really fast on full auto. Its only lightly armored, so a even a BMP could easily take you out, and there are pleanty of those on that mission. Just about the only thing its good for is taking out the infantry. You can easily take down the two hinds they send for you with the sabot on the T80 cause AI pilots are so predictable. Then just use the sabot on everything else, and the machine gun on infantry. On top of that, you get more than one T80 in that base, so if you take too much dammage to risk the rest of the mission on, you can just get in another one.
