John C Flett 0 Posted April 6, 2002 As far as I can see it depends on the aspect angle. If your datum ( nose ) is on the target you seem able to hit it point blank almost. If its off centre the missile needs time to correct. Certainly I find that firing maverick from level flight at less than 500 - 600 metres is likely to waste the shot if the target is below my level. Hellfire and TOW seem slightly more agile but I would still rather get my nose on target than take a close range shot off aspect.
scout 0 Posted April 6, 2002 i know they have safes, and i know they tend to rocket upwards, in the first seconds. i also know that the Tow and AT-4 can be controled only 150 m. of flight.
Satchel 0 Posted April 6, 2002 This is quite some time since we tested and listed the min. Standoff ranges and hit percentages for missiles in OFP. If i remember correctly optimal was 300m for the TOW and 150m for the AT-4, with respective 95% probabilty of hit at these ranges. Absolut min. Standoff is 50m for the TOW and 20m for the AT-4 in OFP, with sub 10% hit percentage. When firing TOW from airborne platform you should have at least 250m between your A/C and the target, better 300.
