sergeant rock 3 Posted April 4, 2002 The WSSCOD.EXE utility isn't working properly for me. I've converted several .OGG files to PCM 16bit Mono .WAV files (using dBpowerAMP), and then I was attempting to convert them to .WSS files. The utility runs, but it takes a 256KB .WAV file for example and converts it to a several hundred MB .WSS before I finally kill the process. Why isn't this working? What am I doing wrong? AK-Chester 0 Posted April 7, 2002 Well, maybe I´m just stupid (bet so) but what do you need the .wss files for when you can use .ogg files for all kinds of sounds, speech and music in OFP?
sergeant rock 3 Posted April 7, 2002 I need them in .WSS format so I can repack them into the original sound.pbo. I'm experimenting with replacing the game sounds without having to create or modify a config.cpp like Satchel's DynamicRange sound mod.
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 ofp can also work with .wav files, so you probaly can just rename the .wav file into .wss and then add it again to the pbo file. question: which utility do you use for extraction/conversion? (download site&if it's good/what to make better)
AK-Chester 0 Posted April 8, 2002 @ Sergeant Rock: Oh, I see... got no idea though. Don´t know about any other tools than the one you are using. Good luck anyway!
Starsky 0 Posted April 10, 2002 Oh yes, have this problem too. Noticed that it only occurs when you use dbpoweramp. Dunno ´bout OggDrop though. I solved it (rather overkill) by opening up the faulty Wav-file in a sample editor, and save it again as WAV. After that, It works fine to use the WSSCOD.EXE. Seems like dbPowerAmp adds some tag or whatever to the wave when converting to Wave that screws up WSSCOD.EXE.
