nullset 1 Posted November 24, 2001 Okay, this is just too weird, I had to post it. So I'm at the Radishville T-1 server, waiting to get in game. All of a sudden I'm hearing this gibberish coming over the voice com channel, almost like salsa beats. So I start saying "no voice coms please" and so on; but everyone claims not to be using them, and everyone says they can't hear what I'm hearing. So I log off/log on, goes away as soon as I leave the "Waiting" screen. After a few minutes, I start to hear it again. Same thing; no one else can hear it, no one claims to be using voice com. I check all my background apps and shut everything down. Back in game, log off/log on. After a few minutes, it comes back. . . but this time, it's clear enough where I can understand the words. It turns out to be a Spanish-language radio commercial for Verizon Wireless. Very clearly, somehow, some spanish internet stream is being redirected to my voice com. Perhaps someone ELSE was listening to it, and it was being dumped into my voice channel? I'll never know, but SOMETHING is severely messed up with the voice channel. No, don't suggest it was some other app running in the background, I wasn't running anything else. Don't imply that it was in any way something that I was doing; never had anything like this ever before. I just want to know if anyone's ever gotten weird things like this over the voice channel. Thanks. nil
KillorLive 0 Posted November 24, 2001 Actually, yes, I have. It sounded Industrialish. Odd eh? After a week it "went away". Hasn't happened for 2 weeks. Baffled the #### out of me. The most I can gather is that maybe someone on your network is listening to it, your IP being close (?) it goes to you as well? Probably off as s**t, but the best *I* can gather. FireFly 0 Posted November 27, 2001 LOL No No that was somebody being retarded on voice Comm. I heard it 2. Most those guys disable voice comm during install, that's why they did not hear it.The night before it was somebody trying to rap (I got a good laugh out of that 1). Due to my computer, my game loads pretty fast and the spanish/rap would quit when most of the people were still loading. I tried to compare when the noise started to when people entered the briefing room but was not able to since 4 or 5 people entered within 2 secs of each other. Sometimes people said they could heat the noise and I could not but they were always on the opposite team, meaning he was team chatting. Oh yeah 1 night we were listening to a talk show LOL
