possibility to make a addon (ping)

Hi,

is it possible to build a addon, how check´s the ping to the server?

i think abbout a serverside/clientside script who calculate the traveltime of a packet, if it´s to long "kick" or clientside "disconnect"

i hope someone know what i need.
