Dogs of War - progress not being saved

Recommended Posts

My saves on Dogs of War are not being ... saved. Every time I've captured a few times, save, then quit out when I load ArmA2 back up I restart the mission back at base!!!

Any idea what I can look for please?

Update - I have done some testing, the save behaviour appears a little odd. If I've quit out and it saves, the next time I load it loads a point before in the past. Quite odd.

Anyone seen that?

Odd, from the campaign menu you're hitting resume?

Try saving it then play for another 5 mobs then try loading most recent save without going back to the menu

I have another one for you!!!

In Dogs of War still, I've been ordered to look at the island so I'm making my way over there in a BMP2 (so I can drive there over the water!).

However, when I save my game, I get a crash to desktop. The ArmA2 program disappears from the WinXP taskbar and it disappears from the Application list (in Task Manager). However ArmA2 still appears as a process.

It does this every time.

Anyone seen this? Is it fubar'd??

i have experienced the save bug a couple of times yes.

you also have to delete that save that you made to be able to continue.

Thanks, but if I'm saving a game then surely the save file doesn't exist until I do save - so how can I delete it?

Erm, its not with loading a file, it is SAVING a file - which at the point of saving doesn't exist. So I'm not sure how I can delete it...??

sorry i was a bit unclear in my response.

As i said it have happened to me too a few times that the game crashed while saving the progress. Then i try to resume the campaign it wont load because the crash will generate a corrupted savefile. Then when you are trying to load it the campaign wont load because the save game is corrupted.

before you delete the save:

Try to load the campaign from the menu by choosing "continue". IF it loads good for you. If it doesn't load you will have to delete the corrupted savefile.

to find the save files open "explorer" and browse to this folder

"My Documents\ArmA 2\Saved\ca\missions\campaign\missions\C6_DogsOfWar.Chernarus

there will be several savefiles delete the most recent (by time & date) savefile.

I think it was my turn to be unclear :)

Not talking about loading now (which seems to be fine).

What I was saying is; I can't SAVE the game - it crashes to desktop.

Thats odd - I wonder what happens in the game that crashes it...?

Try just not saving. I tried this and played for another 30 mins or so and the autosave seems to start to work. I have another bug on the island but thats in another thread.

This game is just soooo full of bugs still. I love it, but it can be infuriating at times.

Okay, I have got to the point where I can not go further and so the campaign is at an end for me.

The problem is that even the auto-saves make ArmA2 crash to desktop. It means that when I reload the game it has not saved my progress and so I play until the next auto-save kicks in and it crashes again. An endless loop.

This is the 4th time I've attempted to complete this campaign, one attempt after another. You can not tell me that the developers / game testers found it suitable for release... Has anyone actually finished Dogs of War properly???
