Apocal 10 Posted August 20, 2009 Has anyone else noticed that smoke has become seriously limited in both it's intensity (obscuring) and the length of hang time? Almost to the point of worthlessness? I'm about to test in single-player, but it seems seriously nerfed, which is somewhat surprising because it was something BIS did right; lagfree and realistic smoke. Simon C 0 Posted August 20, 2009 Are you running the non-beta version of 1.03? 1.03 broke the smoke, but it works again in the betas, which are actually very stable.
Apocal 10 Posted August 20, 2009 I am running bog-standard 1.03 as far as I know. I have the STEAM version of ArmA2.
Simon C 0 Posted August 20, 2009 Yep, if you upgrade to the beta (which is compatible with Steam AFAIK) then the smoke will be back to it's former glory.
Apocal 10 Posted August 20, 2009 Server-side, client-side or both?
Simon C 0 Posted August 20, 2009 Client side I imagine, but I would assume that most people use the beta as it fixes quite a lot of serious issues.
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted August 20, 2009 If you want to play in MP then I wouldn't use the beta builds... however this will definately be fixed in the next patch (1.04?).
Santhonax 10 Posted August 20, 2009 I too have noticed that the smoke grenades tend to give off the equivalent density of a mild fog, but as has been stated, I believe it shall be fixed with the next patch.
