Completing Manhatten

This level was a real puzzler. So many things did not work one time, such as delivering the girl to the LZ for pick up but no helo showed up, and did work at other times (she got picked up by the helo)! I had to restart the level twice when the save game function became corrupted and would not load blowing all that work. I learned that you can complete the level even if you don't finish some of the functions such as "Find Evidence", deliver the girl, don't report the arms cache as the priest requests, blow up the guy's house.

To destroy the main base,

I used an APC and approached through the woods from the south slowly with all my team on board. I plowed down a lot of trees to clear the path for backing up quickly. When I triggered the message saying I had found the base, I backed away quickly and waited for word from the Boomerang group... and waited and waited but no message so I advanced up to the camp shooting anything I could with my gunner then backing way off when getting shot at. Then advancing again to the edge of the woods. Then I saw the green icons on the map that the Boomerang guys were there so I advanced right up to the camp firing away. The enemy tank had been partially disabled and seemed unresponsive to my approach so I got out into the open next to the Boomerang APC which had done most of the work. I got out of the APC and used the bazooka (rocket launcher) to hit the tank which resulted in its crew dismounting and starting to shoot at me so I finished them off with the other APC also shooting at them. By then, we had done away with all enemies so I started destroying the tents and trucks with the cannon from the APC. After flattening the Red Cross hospital tent, I started looking for the leader and found him wounded and whining under the flattened Red Cross tent. I just stood there and he expired without any help.

Mission completed! Then it was the trip back to Manhatten base which was being evactuated. That is when you do the mission to get the documents at the house where you have to kill off insurgents and blow up the house. I used the satchel charge, flattened the house and it did not show up as complete in the map notes! But this does not seem to stop you from returning to Manhatten and completing the level.

Hint for destroying the main base:

Call in artillery! (For example on the T72 when advancing through the forest)

Big fun and makes life much easier. :)
