My first mission

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I finished making a sniper level today, first level I've ever made. I'd like someone to try it and see how it plays out. It's all fine for me but I'd like a second opinion. If you have the ability to edit the mission, could you check my work? See if there's anything you'd do differently or that could be done better.

This mission has no briefing at the moment. One look at the map should explain the mission well enough (through markers) but for a quick rundown:

1) sniper (player) starts south of a town (can't remember name)

2) player advances north to assassinate target

3) target patrols marked road, unarmed, leading 2 other men

4) marked question marks on map are possible positions of snipers. Basically I spawned 5 snipers with about a 50% chance of being there.

5) the noted assault team will attack once you're detected (you'll know by an alarm). I believe they're set as playable but there's no end mission trigger if you play as them.

6) after taking down the target, the player's waypoint *should* advance to the exfil point. I had a little trouble getting this to work right, but at this point I think it's working well.

7) once arriving at extraction, get in the chopper and extract. mission ends. Scoring wasn't taken into account on this mission.

That should cover it. Here's the mission...tell me what you think!

It's been brought to my attention that there may be an issue regarding the mirror I used to upload the mission.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/ah1gg60/n/Sniper_utes_pbo

Using this link, hit "free download" at the bottom of the page.

Using the link in my previous post, underneath where it says "upload complete" it should say "Sniper.utes.pbo" in blue. Clicking that should take you to the page where you scroll down to free download.

Sorry for any troubles. Any feedback yet on the mission?

EDIT: armaholic upload added

hey mate,

not bad for first crack, here is my feedback for ya.

1) the target was laying down in a "surrender" position on other side of town and not moving..bug?

2) have the lead into / travel the mission more tense...travelling more ground with patrols around.

2) After assasination can I suggest that the sniper feels more pressure? ie have the chopper arrive only after he has reached the exfil point and make sure if possible he is under enemy fire. you could even delay it for 1 minute so he has to hold ground...would make it more dramatic in my eyes.

3) the chopper would prob not land there due to lots of lights and danger of attracting inc fire...better relocate LZ.

4) with the above in mind, make the LZ harder to get to...ie further away on the island with nme patrols roaming, means its not all over once mission complete.

Overall is fun but not tight enough yet. Im also making a sniper mission like this with multiple targets across the island.

Good work mate and look forward to more sniper missions from you soon!

thales: Ha, nice screenshots. First one's a bit too dark but the second one's sweet. Thanks for playing!

BushidoUK: Thanks for the criticism! Lets see here...

1) You know, I think I saw the same thing a few times. I'm honestly not sure why that happens.

2) Mmhmm...

3) You make a very good point, sir.

4+5) Mmhmm again...

I think I agree with you on everything actually. Basically the mission just needs "more" to it. I have to say I'm pretty happy with that criticism for a first mission. I'll take your thoughts into account, maybe I'll expand on the current mission or try something new.

Thanks again for the feedback =D

Oh, and by the way, you labeled your points "1,2,2,3,4." Just thought I'd point that out for ya.
