Special forces enthusiasts, lend me your ears

Sorry about that last poll, this one is for real.

I have no frame of reference for Red Hammer Spec Ops missions, never having played it, so sorry these are all american Black Op missions, but i still want your opinion. Which Special Forces mission do you enjoy the most?

NOTE: I left out Search and Destroy and Red Dawn, because although you play as a Black Op, you are also leading a whole squad to acomplish your objectives in practicly broad daylight

I'll have to say that I like the HIND ATTACK mission. I mean it really gives me waht i want. A small squad, against a bunch of guys, and then i get to blow shit (Pardon my french) up. Also, coordinating where to have your teammates bombs is pretty cool too.

Second fav. would have to be sabetour. Its hard, but its still pretty rad. (Not to hard with my strat on it )

Sabotuer is deffinitely one of my favorites, followed closely by the second clean sweep mission.

I loved playing sabotuer the first time. Sneaking into that base on my stomach the whole time so i wouldnt get found out, planting charges under all the armor, and getting out the same, painstakingly slow way i came in, then running into the forest just seconds after i lit the place up. Classic!

And then clean sweep would be my next choice. I wasnt really down with the first one done in broad daylight and not being in command at the same time. that just doesnt bode well. My team was dead in seconds. The second one, however, was pure fun. Taking total advantage of the black-ops high level of camoflauge, almost never getting seen except for having to take out that BMP, and gunning down enemy soldier after enemy soldier after enemy soldier while we were at it. Love that one.

YOU know about the really fun way to beat sabetour?

You run into that forest next to it, Pick off almost everyone. Then sweep the base of anyonw else. Grab the SHi8lka and blow the enemy tanks to smitheroines. When the infantry carrier comes, kill that too, its really fun this way. And then park the shilka next to the uaz. set a charge between tgh two. and set a charge next to the fuel truck. Evryonthing, and i mean everything is destroyed this way. ITs pretty fun, and give some self-statisfaction at the end cause you just owned muliple armored units (although empty) but about 20 infantry with only your HK!!!!

YOU WERE SOOOOOOO RIGHT!!!!!!!!

I just replayed that, and OH MY GOD, did i ever kill a whole lot of people. If what i did ever happened in real life, the enemy would have been so completely humiliated and demoralized if they ever found out just one guy did all that.

MY KILLS:

-over 30 infantry, including officers and spetz natzs

-5 tanks including 3 T-80s and 2 T-72s

-3 choppers including one mi-17 and two Hinds

-4 APCs including 3 BMPs and one BMP ambulence

-And the optional objective, the Ammo dump at Levie including 2 ammo trucks, a ural and a fuel truck.

I didnt actually get credit at the end for taking down the Hinds, but then again, theyd still be up there if i wasnt the one who shot them down, so HAH!

I still cant believe i did all that. that was th first time iv ever gotten so many kills that it had to go over into a second page of statistics

I personally voted for Interdiction, though Saboteur was fun. I didn't steal the Shilka. I crept into the base placing satchels along the way. The results:

my favorite was where you had to find 3 shilkas on kolgujev.(Recon?)

no shooting, just run around undetected....like a kid...!

speaking of Saboteur, when i read briefings, i said 'screw optional. don't have time for that!' and just went to the base(objective) and crawled behind the tanks, placed one satchel per tank, and drove last T80, and as I left the front gate, while running over Rusians, detonated satchels. and that was fun...

but soon Hind started attaking me like crazy. machine guns, missiles..but manages to avoid those....i was driving in 3rd person view, and saw explosion right next to my tank.

and speaking of clean sweep,

my first try on that, i was so scared that first thing i did was run to nearest house, goto second floor and shoot russians from there...took sometime, but i survived, alone. after first time, i just go to main street and hide in bush and fire.

clean sweep 2 was alot more hilarious

i took a M21 & LAW, shot some guards, ran up to another second story, and from there, i had view of russian tents. and russians patrolling. so for next 45 minutes, my sniper gun had some fun. when i was done, i came down, only to find 3 Spetz Natz putting satchel charges on the first floor. amazingly, i managed to shoot 2 of them, and the other one started running away. i chased him and shot him too.

Nice. Yeah, that was similar to my first go at sabatuer as well. This time was so fun though.

Interdiction was another one that i wanted to vote for, but.....eh. Its fun for me at the begining, but gets less fun as i play more of it. It just didnt do it for me like some others

and for the record, i didnt steal the shilka either, i got in a T-80.

this would be one of those unrealistic aspects of the game, that i actually apreciate like how all soldiers, regardless of class, have parachutes. And that is that i was able to shoot down both of the defending hinds with my sabot. AI pilots are so predictable. I guess something like that is possible in real life, but youd have to really know what you were doing as a gunner in a tank, and youd also have to have the chopper RIGHT where you wanted it, which would be inceasingly dificult.

Though I am talking out of my hat and dont have a clue,  I suspect special operations folks would get at least rudimentary training in most battlefield systems.  In otherwords, you'd likely be able to operate enemy gear.

Though I -WAS- amazed at the speed with which I could reload the gun in a T-80.  There should be some slow down when you dont have a full crew.  And I surely did love blowing the base to kingdom come in the T-80 I stole... then blowing it up before finishing the mission.

I should try it again as Mr Stealth and blow the tanks with charges like i am 'supposed' to.

thats fun too, but its so satisfying to rack up ALL those kills by the time you complete the mission
