Pyrodox 0 Posted July 10, 2009 I was playing around, and I figured I'd try changing the process priority to Realtime through Task Manager. Interestingly enough, I seem to have gotten a pretty decent boost in FPS. I haven't done much testing on it yet, however. I've created a .BAT file that I keep in my ArmA 2 directory, now, which contains the command line switches and the "start" command to always start the process with Realtime priority. I'm curious if anyone else has tried this, and what kind of results you get from it if you do. My .BAT file: cmd /c start /Realtime arma2.exe -nosplash -world=empty Just copy that to a text file, rename it to StartArmA2.BAT or whatever you want, and point your shortcut at it. thr0tt 12 Posted July 10, 2009 Setting priority to realtime will have a detrimental effect on other processes running on your system and may even prevent you from playing online. I still think tweaking the game / engine is the only way for this terrible performance to get any better and not making system changes, overclocking to 7Ghz, liquid nitrogen cooling the GPU and running in a dust and air free environment. When the game runs it looks great and in some areas you can even get decent frame rates, it is such a shame as it could have been the best game of 2009. WinterMJ 0 Posted July 10, 2009 (edited) Whether or not you will see an improvement depends entirely on your hardware, OS and the game itself. For example if you have Vista and a quad core CPU then it might help a little but ultimately it's your graphics card that counts more. Either way it's always good practice to give games a high priority, Vista is supposed to do this by default when playing in fullscreen but it doesn't always seem to work as intended. Otherwise an easy way to do this is with a new shortcut TARGET field: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "runhigh" /high "G:\Games\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" Edited July 10, 2009 by WinterMJ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
