Trouble getting started

Recommended Posts

I have been toying around with the editor for hours, reading threads and I have figured out a great deal about creating missions and scripting but I am having trouble working with the basic file structure.

What is the first thing I should do when creating a new mission?

- Use the editor and save my basic mission as user mission and then create my init.sqf in a directory with my mission name or do I need to create all of these files before even opening the editor?

Thank you for any insight.

Yup, some missions won't even need the init.sqf actually. It all depends on what you're going to be doing with scripts and such.

I'd highly suggest getting ArmAEdit. It's a neat text editor that'll color code your SQF files for you so you can catch syntax errors and look at pretty code.
