Unreliable CAS

Hello,

I'm building a missiong which culminates in the player having to call in close air support (via the SOM) on a pair of empty russian tanks. However, the CAS support is being somewhat unreliable in the sense that I am able to make the CAS support request and then laser designate the target, but the aircraft don't always show up to drop their payload. Can anyone suggest a probable cause/solution for this?

Just to elaborate a little, the way things usually work is as follows:

(1) I enter the area of a trigger which assigns close air support to the player.

(2) Point the crosshair at the desired target and use communication menu (0-1-1) to call in CAS. Player identifies the location as marked and H.Q. requests target to be laser designated. At this point, the location for CAS is marked on the map.

(3) Take out the laser designator, point it at the same target and turn it on, so that there is a red dot on the target.

(4) Set game to 4x speed and wait...

(5) Sometimes, the aircraft come, but most of the time time nothing happens. Eventually, after a few minutes on 4x, the CAS marker dissapears from the map, which I presume means that they're never coming.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have the same problem . I,m working on a mission where you have to call in the air support and in the beginning it seemed to work without problems. But now i have allmost finished the mission and decided to test it again. All the other support functions in the SOM module work but now the air support dont show up at all anymore most of the time. This sucks since i build the whole damn mission around this objective. I also noticed that sometimes the SOM module dont work at all and sometimes is does! I removec any Air threats that could take down the aircraft. I find it worked fine before and now the aircraft dont show up at all!

I tried this with another FAC guy on the same map and i different location . Same thing happens no Aircraft show up while all the other support that are activated by the trigger works without problems. Strange huh?
