Grainy image on Nvidia cards -- anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

I've noticed that on loading a new scene (intro screen, new mission, etc) there's a mild graininess to the image, especially noticeable on shadows and other dark areas. When I get the game to enter the 'receiving' screen, either by alt tabbing or changing a graphics option like post-processing from on to off then back again, the graininess goes away, and I get the solid image (which i presume is how its supposed to look). Its akin to the effect when wearing NV goggles. It's was happening on my 8800gs, and its still happening on my brand new gtx 275. I've tried multiple drivers (182.50, 185.85, 186.18) and it's the same deal. The quickest way for me to fix it is ctrl+alt+del then alt+tabbing back into the game, which is irritating.

Am I alone or do other people get the same thing?

Yes, to the NV goggles... I'm talking about without goggles. And yes it looks like film grain, but changing from high post-process to low and then back again doesn't switch it back on.. the effect disapears altogether.

So please, keep the explanations coming...

Either me doing this is correcting a bug, or it's in fact supposed to look like crap, and im actually breaking it. Any dev's got an answer?

I had this last night, it added a grainy effect to normal daylight. Alt-tab gets rid of it. Didnt cause me any issues and in fact made it look a bit better tbh.

A bit better? Tried it at night?

Obviously this is a dead horse.
