Jeff K 0 Posted December 2, 2001 For months now, I've been playing Operation Flashpoint on version 1.0. Everytime I tried to install a patch I would get an error with the 1985.pbo file. No matter how many times I reinstalled i it never worked. I posted messages on this boarfd before and I even emailed the company. The best codemasters could tell me is to find the patch on some gaming magazine demo CD. So i figured I just wait for Red Hammer to come out. But I was thinking.... maybe that won't work either..... This is really getting annoying. Can somebody please help me out???

nvdrifter 0 Posted December 3, 2001 Hi Jeff, This may help. First of all, do you own the US version? (If not, first download 'Ulitimate Upgrade 2' from this website. If this 'Ultimate Patch 1.20 does not install properly, then download each patch and vehicle separately until you have upgraded to version 1.20. Now proceed reading). I had no problems at all installing the 'Ultimate Upgrade 3 1.30 patch' if I already had 1.29 installed. Now I noticed that if I jump from 1.20 to 1.30 'Ultimate Upgrade' I get the same error messages during install that you talk about. 'PBO error and cannot find vehicles files' error messages are common now. Get 'Public Beta 1.29 patch' (link below), then do a fresh install of OFP, then REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE ANY OTHER ACTION (VERY IMPORTANT!), next install 1.29 patch, next REBOOT AGAIN, then install 'Ultimate Upgrade 3 1.30 patch'. Hope this helps. Please let me know... http://www.gamesdomain.com/patches/o/4150.html Joe (Edited by nvdrifter at 7:16 am on Dec. 3, 2001)

Jeff K 0 Posted December 3, 2001 Thanks for all your help, but as it turns out, I don't think the problem is with any of the patches. I reinstalled the game and downloaded that CheckOFP program which goes through and verifies all the files. When I ran this program, I still got an error with the 1985.PBO file. Now I'm thinking that maybe there is a problem with my CD itself. With this new information, I'm going to contact codemasters again and maybe they can help me fix this. As of now, it doesn't look like buying Red Hammer is going to fx my patch problems either... Thanks Jeff

Sounds like one of several possible problems. Search The FAQ for "checksum". That's an exact fit. However, I think it's symptomatic of something else. Do you know whether your motherboard is based on the VIA chipset? If so, search The FAQ for "via chipset". Also, search The FAQ for "aspi".
Jeff K 0 Posted December 4, 2001 My board is not a VIA chipset. I have an ECS K7AMA mother board with the ALI M1645 chipset. I got that straight out of the users manual.
Jeff K 0 Posted December 4, 2001 If this helps, I have an AMD 1.2 cpu on that board.....
Jeff K 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Even though I don't have a VIA chipset, my problems do seem very similiar. I was wondering this this cold solve my problem. Instead of trying to copy the 1985.PBO file from the CD to the hardrive for the 100th time, what if I just install the game on a friend's computer and then upload that file to my computer. Maybe by downloading tha 1985.PBO file I can bypas this problem? What do you think?
chrissss 0 Posted December 4, 2001 If you're getting real MAD about the 'sound.pbo corrupted' error while checking, and you have a VIA Chipset (kt133a for me), just try this (I posted something about this on The Avon Lady) - check last bios version - upgrade to last 4in1 drivers - don't swith off DMA on your IDE drivers, it's useless Here's the trick : go in the bios, then switch your DRAM speed from 133 to 100. Install the 1.20 : GREAT ! No error when checking. Install the 1.30, then switch back the DRAM speed to 133. It works ! Thanks God ! This prevented me to commit a MURDER
