Guest Posted March 3, 2002 Whilst trying to join to a friends server (AMD T-bird, 1Mbit/256Kb down/up) for some 1.45 co-op I encountered a few problems joining to the game. It was taking over 2 minutes to join and sometimes it would just hardlock and kick me back to the main menu after another minute or so. I alt+tabbed to my desktop and checked my network status, it was sending about 300 bytes /second (no download at that point) which I thought was pretty odd considering even my poor 56k can send 1.8KB/sec. I thought back to what I had last installed and I remembered it was Directx8.1. At this point I was considering re-installing directx8 and OFP then I remembered the last thing I had put into OFP before I updated DirectX to 8.1 and OFP to 1.45, a custom face. I checked my user dir and saw it was nearly 70KB's (not too big) so I removed it and tried to rejoin the server. This time it took little over 5, 6 seconds to get connected. I'm not sure why my connection was sending so slowly, maybe OFP/direct play is set to small packet sizes. Maybe it's one of my settings for my dialup. But in short if it takes you along time to get connected you might try removing your customface or finding a more compressed one Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

IsthatyouJohnWayne 0 Posted March 3, 2002 MP keeps locking up my computer everytime i try to connect, i get no response- either when first launching and loading to server screen or when loading map- i dont have much ram (64 mbs) but i dont recall this happening much before .45 ..... (i havent been able to play a single MP OFP game today- tried at least 10-15 times including non gamespy related IP address) have to turn off at the mains....very annoying Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Guest Posted March 3, 2002 Shut off everything running in the background? Do you have any other network traffic? Are you dialup/cable/DSL? What OS? Have you tried re-installing? Have you tried removing all unofficial addons? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
