How will modding support differ from ARMA?

Early days yet to get any confirmation on this I think, but looking forward to seeing more information, in the fullness of time - before game release though please?

There are some things that will make custom contect creation easier in some areas. There will be also various new scripting commands etc. But overall, modding and most of the tools available will be very similar to what it is in Arma 1 (or OFP).

There are two other things to mention: porting from Arma 1 to Arma 2 will be easier than it was from OFP to Arma 1. Also, there is quite high probability that editing tools will be release sooner than for our previous games.

Good news you're planning to release tools earlier for folks to get busy with - can you expand just a little on 'in some areas' if able, please?

Thanks for the info...is it likely, that there will be the possibility to communicate with external windows applications/scripts? (so similar a built in ArmALib ) ?

a suggestion to the devs: perhaps you can create a page in the wiki and describe roughly the changes from time to time (so basically the delta between Arma and Arma2 regarding modding/mission making)...could be useful after the release too...

So on that note; I am reading this correct (in assuming) that the superb vehicles and weapons the chaps have created will be able to be ported to ArmAII?

with some minor changes, most likely config related, yes (or as I've been led to believe)
