theavonlady 2 Posted December 4, 2001 I'm curious. Several of you have resolved the problem by uninstalling CloneCD or possibly other burner software. On the other hand, MaxDamage has manage to resolve the problem by installing CloneCD. (Maybe that's why he's called MaxDamage ). Now, again, don't you find it strange that OFP is referencing anything to do with the CD after mission completion? So here's a question to those of you that still have the problem or that refuse to uninstall or install burner software: If you remove the CD after OFP starts up, does the problem still occur? ogre h 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Just to chime in uninstalling CloneCD seems to help. I uninstalled, and then re-installed OFP 1.3 and was able to progress. As soon as I re-installed CloneCD, everything went back to ####. What I want to know is why is there a conflict with CloneCd and OFP?
theavonlady 2 Posted December 4, 2001 According to MaxDamage, CloneCD adds the following file to Windows: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IoSubSys\ElbyCDIO.vxd Now, chances are that this file somehow interferes with I/O to and/or from your CDRW drive. My previous question still remains: what connection is there between mission completion and CD I/O and would the problem be resolved if OFP's CD was removed from the drive beforehand, without uninstalling CloneCD? Theironheart 1 Posted December 4, 2001 I think Clone-CD is only a part of the problem... I've experienced that some remaining registry entries after uninstalling OPF infact do compromise the reinstallation of OPF. I had to face this problem for several times until I MANUALLY (NO AUTOMATIC MODE!!) removed all entries from Codemasters in Windows-registry (via freeware "regcleaner v4.3" - just search the internet, available almost everywhere), restarted and then setup & upgrading worked fine! Just try it... Hope it helpes you
monkeygoat 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Sorry Avonlady, when I said startup I meant installation. And to everyone for whom ofp now works enjoy playing.
Adviss 0 Posted December 4, 2001 hes right. Clonecd screws it up; I noticed this right after I bought the full version. I wish I read this thread earlier, cause I "fixed" the problem by reinstalling windows..*sigh*..and whats worse, is now I cant select 4 channel analog "surround sound" for my fortissimo sound card. I think my computer hates me
ogre h 0 Posted December 4, 2001 Just to update. CloneCD works fine with the other versions of OFP, just not 1.30. I'm using CloneCD 3.2.2.1 licensed US version. I hope BIS releases a patch soon.
HK 0 Posted December 5, 2001 Someone bloody well better release a patch, and soon too. Having emailed this prob to CM, I eventually got a reply of do this, try that blah blah. Needless to say it doont work. I rely on CCD to quickly backup my data, as nero is a bit of a pain. Having to live without CCD is... unmentionable. I'll probably find I can't print either until I remove Gold
