Briefing:

Paraiso airfield US base, 02:00 AM.

An infiltrated agent of the US army has been discovered and captured by the Russian forces. He's being held in an unknown location. The first task of your small efficient elite-squad will be to find informations that could lead you to the hostage. Your second task will consist in finding the prisonner and bring him alive back to base, so we can retrieve his vital informations.

Notes :

You are loaded with silent weapons by default, but a weapon-crate at base can provide you another range of selected weapons. You are also given a wide range of vehicules. So choose wisely. Your success will be based on your capacity of analysing the situations, and your speed of execution. Good luck soldiers !

README :

Informations/Advices :

- the leader has a key role (like in real life...) since he's in charge of hacking the computer and of liberating the hostage

- for mission design and AI reactions reasons, the hostage will be automatically

and artificially "teleported" in the very near area when he's delivered.

So don't panic when it happens. Just order the hostage to come back near to you.

- Better play this mission in veteran mode.

- "Hostage at base" or more generally "at base" means : near the US flag ^^.

- I've made this new version with ArmA 1.14, and tested it with 1.14. After extensive testing, all seems to work fine.

- This mission fully works with ArmA 1.14.

I have also tried to make the ennemy IA setting and the mission as realistic as possible with my limited knowledge of the editor.

By realistic, I mean :

- shooting accuracy is higher for russian Spec. Forces than russian simple soldiers.

- shooting accuracy of all IA has been set from 50 to 70 % max.

- all ennemy event triggers are set on "detect" and not "presence of" west.

- the towns of the missions do have a civilian population, living its own life.....;)

Known issues in single player mode :

- nd

Known issues in multiplayer mode :

- there may be errors in the debriefing summary.

Incompatible with XAM !

Versions history :

Changed and fixed in 1.3.4 :

- init script re-written

- fixed error of ammunitions in the ammocrate at base (now STANAG30c instead of wrong STANAG20c)

- removeAction now correctly working on all players (computer hacking and deploy parachute)

- briefing correctly updated on all players during the mission.

- only the leader can now liberate the hostage by going near him.

- several minor fixes

Changed and fixed in 1.3.3 :

- randomization of several existing patrols

- minor fixes

Changed and fixed in 1.3.2 :

- error in a counting script

- removeAction bug. Now, hacking the computer should only be available to the leader of the team. If the leader dies, then the next highest rank is in charge of doing the hacking.

- the paths of several patrols already present have now been randomized.

Fixed in 1.3.1 :

- major typing error in the description.ext file which makes your ArmA game crash if you try to host an MP game (really really sorry about that). Remove the 1.3 version.

Changes and fixed in 1.3 :

- new and very last objective added...(I won't say anything more...^^)

- After joining the group when saved, the hostage will now truly follow the leader of the group (I made use of the doFollow command).

- several random patrols have been included to be more realistic (Urban Patrol Script Kronzky, Version: 1.8.2), so be careful...^^

- two non-invasive addons now required (links provided on the armaholic.com download page ; just put them in the Addons folder of ArmA in "Program Files").

- several bugs I've found

- thanks list extended... ^^'

Changes in 1.2 :

- mostly "cosmetic" changes

- waypoints are now absent

- hostage will join when a squad member is near him.

fixed in 1.1 :

- silent weapons are now properly loaded at start in multiplayer game.

- Hostage now should join your group without problem when he's liberated.

- fixed errors in briefing and debriefing.

- mission now ends when hostage is really at base.

You can use this mission to make your own as long as you inform me in this forum (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?&act=ST&&f=67&&t=66026) if your changes are improving the mission or resolving some issues.

Thanks to :

- Nico, FABfm, DieAngelo, Le CuLtO for advices and solutions (from ArmA-Fr.net).

- ADO-Killer, ADO-Zeus, GranQ, armatech for advices and solutions.

- ADO-Killer for his script "Hacking computer".

- Kronzky for his script "Urban Patrol".

First post transferred from old forum and updated to give more specs about the mission.

Quote from old forum last post :

I told you 5 meters max by memory. I just checked with the editor, and actually, the trigger is set on "hostage has to be within 8 meters from the ammocrate", which is pretty much what is expected by what is said in the readme : "at base" means near the flag.

I haven't tried to stop the mission and continue it later, since it was mainly designed for multiplayer coop of small groups of players.

I guess that the problem you are encountering may be due to this : stop and save, then continue another day.

Since I haven't experienced this with my team mates during my tests.

Sorry to tell you that I'm not sufficiently expert in editing to track down the single player (discontinued mission) issue you are experiencing.

However, it works fine if you do it entirely, alone or with other players.

Enjoy.

:)
