Tutorials, tips, etc for movie making?

Recommended Posts

I want to be able to make great looking movies, (similar to dslyecxi's popular movie) especially with unit fire triggers, making airplanes dropping bombs on any given place, etc. I've played around with action screenshot taking, using camera.sqs, but I want to be able to manipulate units, like rockets firing, dropping bombs, etc. Can anyone point me to the right direction for the fine art of movie making in ArmA?

P.S I've gotten comfortable with Deadeye's camera tutorials, but is it really the only "freecam" I can use? Hasn't anyone created a "dummy" superfastflying unit that can achieve the same effect as a smooth freecam?

Use the doFire command, to make units/vehicles fire upon a chosen targtet.

I am unversed in cameras as of yet, but I would suspect you could trigger that action from the Attacking unit to the target with a count script of some sort

Hmm, that is indeed useful.

2 questions; How can I choose what weapon a unit should use against the target? Is it possible to get the A-10 to drop a bomb on a unit or even an empty space?

Also, how do I give specific unit "names" so I can relate to which fires to what? ie "WSoldier" and "ESoldier" in that link you've provided.

Also, how would I make a fixed wing aircraft take off off an airstrip?

You might want to use the search option of the forum to get you some answers or you choose the more reasonable approach and download an editing guide that shure answers all of your questions.

I suggest you download the Merciless Uber Reference guide for OFP. It will give you an introduction to editing and help you in many, many ways with your problems and questions.

Just keep in mind that scripting has changed from sqs to sqf in Arma, but for now that should not be a problem for you as you still can use sqs scripts with Arma.

Download Mercyless Uber Reference Guide

Don´t get me wrong, your questions are very basic and that´s probably why people are not so eager to answer them as questions of that kind have been answered about 100000 times here.

Check the New to Arma editing thread to get further help and documents.

Happy editing ! welcome.gif
