Bob.Dob 0 Posted December 24, 2007 The Operation Reality Community is pleased to announce the arrival of our 2nd official ArmA campaign coming in the new year 08: The Middle East campaign. Unlike the 1st campaign which took place on regular temperate wooded terrain Sahrani map, this time our troops will be deployed to the rugged urban and desert theater of the Middle East. Interesting multi layered custom missions (coop and pvp) are being developed, tweaked, and finalized by our mission builders as we speak and many new features and customizations are being implemented and proposed. Custom Add-Ons will also be a big part of personalizing the coming campaign for all our players. New Features such as the ability to play as your own nationality, and have the skins, weapons, vehicles and unit structures to reflect such real life national regimental organizations will be encouraged, facilitated and implemented. The goal is to place a much emphasis as possible on such custom details to help each individual player a unique personal feeling and reflect most modern realistic multinational military coalitions seen in real world operational theaters today. Custom operation mission maps, custom training maps and basic/advanced training courses for all levels of players will be available and required. VOIP comms will also be realistic and structured to give the radio comms the most efficiency and realistic feeling possible so the players enjoy the more personal role playing aspects of battle. Regular weekly trainings and strategic/tactical prep recon sessions will also as normal be high on the agenda. Please come over to http://operationreality.org and sign up for the ArmA division today. 2Recon 0 Posted January 27, 2008 Hello all Armed Assault players! Operationreality co-operation campaign will officially kick off on Sunday the 3rd of February with Operation Black Strike! Mission Brief was posted recently: Quote[/b] ]OPERATION BLACK STRIKEC2 - MISSION 1 - 03/02/2008 Background Intel: The city of Sakakah is volatile even after months of occupation. It is a central hub for Hamas militia and would be insurgents that have increased their attacks on USMC supplies and patrols over the past several months. This is partly due to the town fast becoming a trading post for eastern business men seeking a dangerous fortune. (the region is rich in oil) This has led to an increase in I.E.D attacks on main roads and several established "no go" areas were nests of criminal/terrorists cells have built a black market. USMC have been ordered to lessen their presence in the central part of Sakakah immediately. Private military contractors such as Blackwater are operating in the area on a regular basis, carrying escort and security missions that the US army consider "contractible". These new business ventures and influx of funding in the area has brought demand for our Campaign 2, The Middle East. Until now the dominating presence of militia in low priority Sakakah hasn't been an issue. Intel reports Hamas and other groups have been using the city as a primary source of funding for many years. Our mission is to bring that to an end and secure Sakakah. This will not be full out attack on the enemy. We are required to support USMC in the area by conducting initial special operations to weaken the Hamas grip on the city. Command has gathered a rather unique collaboration of special forces to operate in Sakakah and eliminate all would be terrorists. This is no easy task since the area still has many occupants loyal to the terrorist cause. Mission Status: We will have 8 missions in total. Our next four missions will center around SFOD-D,UKSF,PATHFINDER and S.O.A.R carrying out special operations in Sakakah. Collateral/unnecessary damage must be kept to a minimum, we want the locals on our side. Every mission outcome will influence our next move (hence the operations media blackout). Think before you act. Once completed we will be visiting the IRAN/IRAQ border to conduct Scud Hunt Operations (S&D) as well as wiping out Iraqi air bases and fortresses. This is the second stage of our campaign and will involve custom load-outs and no respawns. S.O.A.R will also be functioning with limited supplies/support behind enemy lines. Our final campaign mission will consist of the capturing one of the most elusive fugitives in history (Osama bin Laden) in a multi-staged operation. ================================================== ======= BLACK STRIKE INTRODUCTION/BRIEFING Good morning men, The wait is over. After spending three weeks in the desert rehydrating and adjusting to the climate we have the go ahead on our first mission. Hamas (Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiyya) have become very relaxed in our operational area. As a show of force they are carrying out routine armored patrols on the outskirts of the city and continually firing on USMC personnel Intel wants us to bleed the local insurgents dry of resources so our first designated target is a large fuel depo on the edge of town. Destroying this facility will not only limited their use of Armour but will cripple any large scale funding in the area. We have reports of several AA units surrounding the depo (old soviet decommissioned shilka's and AA guns mainly) but their shear numbers make it impossible for a direct strike. We could carpet bomb the area but their are cilivians and key buildings in the sector that intel want to keep in tact. Due to this both S.O.A.R and SFOD-D will have to work closely together to elimate enemy AA positions and then move on to the depo. Objective 1: Get to landing zone alpha and establish a small base with ammo and weapons that will be required. Using a cobination of close air support and laser targeted strikes eliminate all AA positions. Objective 2: Target the main fuel depo and eliminate all units and structures. The entire depo will need to be destroyed to ensure no rebuilding or slavage can take place. Side Mission: There are several side objectives in the city. These will be passed to you as and when the main objective has been permitted. (time dependant) As a side note we want the local populace on our side. Try to keep the peace and avoid injuring any children. Command out ! Campaign 2 Preview Video Sign up and join the fun @ Operationreality.org

wolfsblut_ 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Because this is not mentioned in the operationreality-server-FAQ some additional basic questions: - do you play only in first person? - do you play without respawn? (I read somewhere on the homepage something like "respawn after 10 minutes". Is this true for the actual campaign?) - do you play with sidearms? (arma wall-hack-problem)
Bob.Dob 0 Posted March 12, 2008 1) Yes we play in 1st Person. (3rd is usually only used for fraps and for the lack of in game peripheral vision for some trainings) 2) We use either respawn (with time delay) or revive scripts. Usually respawn only though when it comes to official operations. When you respawn you await the order from command on what to do before re-entering the field to regroup with your fireteam. We maintain controlled comms. So yes it can take a long time sometimes. Our number one policy is 0 deaths. 3) We usually are equipped with some sort of side arms but trust me, if you're down to using your side arms in one of our active assault op's you're as good as dead anyways unless you stay well ghost. We do not allow hackers though if that's what you're asking. Hope that answers some of you queries

To 3: Having the possiblity to look through houses and floors gives the silent IED-attackers and ambush-attackers unfair advantages.)

Bob.Dob 0 Posted July 1, 2008 Small Update Operation Urgent Fury is now fully complete after 2 separate replay sessions which were required to complete all objectives. The mission was a clear success from our squads point of view and we're looking forward to the next operation of C2:Phase2 in the coming weeks. Some video footage of the 1st pass at the Op and some video of the 2nd pass (I will update this post with the link when the video is uploaded). Stay tunned for information and press releases on the next operation.
