Simple campaign mission question

Recommended Posts

I've been playing OF for about 2 weeks now. Just getting the swing of things and all. And its really a great game.

My problem with it is I constantly DIE!

Anyways, I am on this campaing level, where you are all alone in the woods and you need to reach a town where your troops are. I think its like the 5th or 6th campaign level??

I've tried three repeatedly to vbeat the mission, but theres just a lot of guys out there.

I know I should just keep on playing and get more exp with the game, but could anyone offer any advice on the level?

Thanks in advance,

GeorgeCMan

That's actually thats what I was thinking of doing, not steal a tractor, but maybe get a vehicle f someshort.

I'll try it tonight, thanks!

the way I do it is by not shooting unless I have to, no running it, keep low (crawl), stop and look every couple of seconds, basically try not to give yourself away. This is pretty much standard escape and evasion stuff, learn it because you can't always rely on pinching a vehicle from in a nearby village in OFP.

Search The FAQ for "after montignac". That mission stirred up so many posts on all the forums during the first several months after OFP was released. A classic!

One basic rule of not being detected when in hostile territory, is to keep prone. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference. Heck, sometimes the enemy doesn't see you when you are only 2 feet away when you are prone!

Second, stick to woody bushy areas. Your chances of being spotted while prone in bushy areas are MUCH lower than when in a clearing.

When moving between bushes and other concealment, use your judgement, if there are alot of enemies around, you may want to crawl and keep VERY alert. If you see enemies when in the open, stay low, and try to keep out of sight. If they see you, immediately take them out and then either run (if noone else is around at the time) to your next concielment, or if there are others stay quiet movie to your next consealment hoping noone else will notice.

If there are not that many others in a specific area, you can chance running between concielment, but be very careful!

The less time you are between concielment, the better.

Bushes are excellent for hiding. If the bush is moderately large enough, I can trust it to hide my whole prone body in it while enemies are standing as close as 3 feet away!

Just make sure the bush is the right size and shape. But remember, ANY bush is better than NO bush. Even if it's a tiny patch the size of a large watermelon, it can do wonders. If you know how to use it properly.

Everything above is true and will work, but I would suggest that as soon as the mission begins you gun down the first soldier running to your left along the edge of the woods, then nick ammo and a LAW launcher from the body of a dead friendly nearby. Run into the woods before the advancing squad spots you. Lose the squad in the woods (easy) and break out far south to the next set of woods when the local Hind isn't looking. Before the last stretch use the LAW on the scary BMP hanging around and break out for the woods south of the second RV point before getting captured and then liberated again.

Basically, in the open stick to cover, run fast and if anyone opens up on you just zigzag until you get a few dozen yards into the nearest forest. If the chopper spots you then you're as good as dead, just restart.

Hope that helps smile.gif

Wow,

you mean you went south?

I was always asking myself if someone has ever won this mission by going south...
