SCLZ 0 Posted February 23, 2002 Two computers on a LAN at home both with Operation Flashpoint installed...everything was running fine. Recently (about the end of January) I discover the wonders of downloading unoffical addons. All is good, OFP runs fine and I get some really neat extra units and islands etc. A few days ago the multiplayer games I have with my Dad on the LAN start saying the following message out of the blue: <computer name>: "Original games do not fade." And it kicks both computers out of the game. Hmm...bad addon I think so I delete the latest addons I had downloaded but kept the ones I had two weeks prior. I uninstall OFP from both machines and install again hoping this would clear it. (1) When we create a game it says up the top: "Remember: Original games do not fade." Does this mean FADE is still active? I honestly thought that it said that before and was just a general warning that this software is protected with FADE but now I'm all paranoid (2) It also says when we create that the client machine uses a modified config file, which confuses me seeing as both machines have the exact same addons installed. Is there any way I can tell what the difference is? (3) If one or more of these addons activated FADE for me wouldn't that mean they would do it to anyone else downloading them? So popular ones should be Ok? Or is it a certain combination of addons that triggers it? (4) If I remove all the downloaded addons will FADE stop or will I have to reinstall? (5) Before when I was certain FADE was active (kick you outta the game thing) I couldn't tell if it was both machines or just one of them. Is there any easy way to tell which machine it was? I think I'll just have to get rid of all the addons which is a shame because a lot of them are really good Sorry about the long post but I haven't been very successful about finding any info on FADE and addons, most posts seem to end in the line "buy the game". Thanks for any help!
