OFP Crash In XP

Recommended Posts

Ran into a problem running OFP on a new XP system.

Anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes into a mission, the video will go black and the audio starts repeating. A few seconds later, the system will just restart. Occasionally I'll get a Blue Screen of Death, but the system restarts before I can read any of its contents.

My system specs are as follows:

AMD XP 2000+ running at 1.67MHz with 512 RAM

Asus AVN233-E (nForce chipset)

VisionTEK Geforce2/GTS running latest nVidia reference drivers

Creative SBLive XGamer running latest Creative drivers

WinXP Professional

Reading through the FAQ and checking Avon Lady's site, I tried a few of the recommended options to no avail.

Swap file set to 1028MB.

Windows Compatibility patch uninstalled.

Tried both Win98 Compatibilty mode and without.

Tried turning of EAX.

Verified PS was delivering correct voltages.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try next?

Thanks in advance!

Jonas

Fixed this problem by going to the nVidia website and downloading the reference drivers for the nForce chipset. This fixed the problem and actually improved performance in most games across the board.
