Arma still crashing MP after folder deletion

When joining multiplayer with 1.08 (never used 1.06) the game crashes.

The problem reads:

Arma has encountered an error and needs to close.

Deleted the ARMA folder and it worked once. It hasn't worked since. Deleting it every time before I start does not solve the problem.

C:\Documents and Settings\user profile\local settings\application data\ArmA

Of interest, the game is NOT saving my settings. Resolution, graphical settings, ect are not saved. Could the fact that it saves no data be related to the crash bug?

Need help, paid forty dollars for half a game... Only single player works.
