Sleek 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Thank's to all for making these mods The thing is i know you can put a lot of mods into the default Addons folder but i read somewhere that the best thing is to make seperate addon folders for your mods..is this the best way? If so what would i call the new addon folder/s? Or do i just place them in my default addon folder? Regards.Sleek.
Hardman_506thIR 0 Posted May 30, 2007 not really the place for this but hey u get that lol nothing i can do now to answer your question, i use ArmA launcher, so i find it handy having folders that i can tick on and off etc etc others find it easier to just dump into \Addons if you wanted to run in seperate folders you either need a launcher, or add the folder name to your ArmA command line. For example, if my mod folder was called @FDFSounds, i would have to put -mod=@FDFSounds on the end of my ArmA shortcut Someone else can probably explain that better, but i think thats answered your questions
ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Wrong board, but: You're talking about a "mod folder". 1: Create a folder in your arma directory, name it whatever. A lot of people start the folder name with @ to easilly distinguish it's purpose. You don't have to do that, but I reccomend it. Do not use spaces in this name. 2: Inside your mod folder, create a folder called addons. 3: Make a copy of your arma shortcut, rename it to something informative. 4: Right click on the shortcut, and select properties. 5: In the target box, at the end, add -mod=@MyModfolderName. There should be a space before the "-mod=", but no spaces in "@MyModfolderName" or between "-mod=" and "@MyModfolderName". Substitute @MyModfolderName with whatever you named the mod folder from step 1. If you wish to use multiple mod folders at the same time, use a semicolon to seperate them. Correct: -mod=@MyModfolder;@MyOtherModfolder;@YetAnotherModfolder Incorrect: -mod=@MyModfolder -mod=@MyOtherModfolder -mod=@YetAnotherModfolder 6: Press ok. 7: Run arma with your new shortcut when you wish to use the addons in that folder.
