L3dZ3P 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Hi guys, I had posted a while back reference this same issue...I could see all games listed in browser but when I tried to conect to one it would look like it was going to then say conecting failed. The solution I was told was in this thread http://community.bistudio.com/wiki....servers (Can't connect on servers- Every attempt to connect to a server fails with an error message saying that the attempt to connect failed. Solution Execute netsh winsock reset with cmd.) This did work great, the only problem being that it renders the firewall inactive. The only way it seems to fix that is by reinstalling the firewall...which yes you guessed it....puts the winsock catalogue back to its previous state...hmmm, am I missing something here? Guys any help appreciated in sorting this matter so I can play online and have my firewall operational...thankyou.
BraTTy 0 Posted May 18, 2007 First of all are you sure you are trying to connect to same version servers? What patch(s) have you applied? Lots of tips in this topic http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=62796
L3dZ3P 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Yeah is right version patch and the right servers I trying. As I said the problem is sorted by resetting the winsock cat but it then means having no firewall :S
ArMoGaDoN 0 Posted May 18, 2007 You may have a malware infestation, or some other addon-toolbar LSP for IE that might be causing some problems in your catalog. Run a spyware / malware-tool to check this, and see if any adon toolbars e.g. google or similar that might be misbehaving by removing them completely, temporarily. L3dZ3P 0 Posted May 19, 2007 Reference the first fix for winsock they said if it doesnt work to make copy of your registry and do the following: Start Windows in safe mode, go to device manager, show hidden devices and delete the following non-PnP-drivers: HTTP AVMPORT NetBios over TCP/IP TCP-IP Driver for automatic RAS-connection Windows Socket 2.0 Non-IFS If I am to delete the above mentioned drivers will that cause me other problems?
