Mike Graham 0 Posted May 10, 2007 Hi everyone, I've read a lot about Dual Core CPU's not being used to their full, and I can imagine that Quad Core ones won't be any different, but what sort of performance should I expect? I am about to receive a Quad Core Intel Core 2 processor, 2gb of RAM and a new motherboard, slight upgrade from my Athlon XP clocked at 2.1Ghz and 1Gb of RAM lol Have a Radeon X1950 Pro 512mb GPU btw, but can't run things very high. On minimising the game currently, I find the CPU at 100% load, so I imagine my Athlon is the bottleneck, hopefully the intel CPU will solve this.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted May 10, 2007 A single core game will always use 1 core at 100%, no matter how fast your CPU is, it will always try to suck up those extra cycles (AFAIK). As ArmA supports dual cores, but isnt optimized for them, the game should run fine but the performance gain would be 20% at most (thanks to optimized drivers and other processes using another core), but probably alot less.
