GAU-8 0 Posted May 9, 2007 searching was usless.(but i dont think i ve seen a question like this recently either) when selecting a unit in the editor, the "properties" box opens up, you can see that you can assign a name to your soldier. what exactly is this for? apparently its not for "in game" identification ..much like you would see if you moused the pipper/crosshairs onto online player. i was hoping that this is what it was for. identifying a specific soldier "by name" when playing single player . either i missed it somehow, or i am completely wrong. could it be to "name" an individual unit for scripting? .. IE: a trigger is is activated ..and trigger/script calls specifically for "homer sapien" to fix the truck/ attack tank.. etc... etc?
Balschoiw 0 Posted May 9, 2007 Wrong forum matey Name in editor is used only for editing purpose and adressing units from scripts, triggers, etc. If you want to change the onscreen name you have to use setidentity and define the identity in the description.ext.
