shinRaiden 0 Posted April 26, 2007 Feature, not a bug. Your game FOV is artificially narrow, this is to help you over come that limitation.
walker 0 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi Iron+Cross All FPS reduce the field of view below the FOV you have in reality; that is greater than 180 degrees. A normal FPS gives you an FOV of about 100 degrees. Even if you used a wide screen or altered your FOV (which you can do in OFP and ArmA) to give a 180 degree FOV but that is not what your eyes do or see, so doing it is not a more accurate description of human vision. You can only see with crystal clarity by looking straight at an object. Try looking at this sentence and see how many words you can read without moving your eyes; called a single focus. Speed readers with lots of training and constant use can see single newspaper column of say 5 words width and 5 or 6 lines at once, mere mortals see perhaps 3 words and 1 line. When I was reviewing books for the London special collection of computer books, while working as a librarian, I tought myself to speed read and can see five words in one focus but only one line at a time. Â but I reduced my skip-back and increased my focal speed. You have full vision and depth of field of about 90 degrees by constantly moving your eyes; your nose gets in the way looking in either direction beyond 45 degrees from your center line. You also constantly move your head to gain situational awareness, Track IR mimics this. You have monocular and reduced vision without depth of field out to about 140 degrees or 70 degrees either side of your center line. You have decreased quality of vision at the edges beyond this; that is your peripheral vision. Your peripheral vision can only identify what it has seen by looking directly at it and is thus stored in memory or that something is moving. It can not ID shape and even colour identification is very limited. It can ID size and change in size such as indicate an object moving toward you. In ArmA the blobs on the edge of the screen are to mimic your peripheral vision. They are particularly good for moving objects. Kind Regards walker
