theohall 0 Posted February 10, 2002 Sound cuts in and out and sometimes isn't there at all. Fully patched up to 1.42 Win98SE (re-installed 2 weeks ago for other reasons) Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound board with most recent driver Hardware Acceleration and EAX turned off. When I go into Audio options, all three sound options play as I adjust the settings. Once I leave the Audio options menu, the sound disappears. Then it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't (mostly doesn't work) during the missions. I can't even hear the Sergeant talking during training. Any suggestions? testie 0 Posted February 13, 2002 What I would do first is look at the directx version you are running. I would also run your dxdiag and test the sound there. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\dxdiag.exe. Make sure you are able to hear sounds in direct x first. The last tab has more help. You can click on the sound and see if windows can help you fix the problem.. theohall 0 Posted February 15, 2002 Update - DirectX was up to date. 8.1 Wasn't the problem. Still don't know what was. Outside of OPF and one other game (can't remember which), sound worked perfectly including in the dxdiag utilities. Solution: XP Pro arrived today (gotta love being a student - XP Pro upgrade for $74). Installed XP Pro. Installed XP Drivers for Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Sound now works great. No other issues like other people seem to be having with graphics.
