Troll 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Hello! First I bought the German version, installed and enjoyed it. Then I bought the Euro version to get english language, uninstalled the german version and installed the new Euro version. Then I downloaded and installed the 1.05 patch. All along I have been plagued by the same sound issue... The engine sound in vehicles is gone. If I enter the options menue and set Audio Hardware acceleration and EAX to off, then on, the sound comes back. But when I exit the vehicle and enter it again, the sound is gone... I have a Realtek ALC850 onboard soundcard on my Asus A8N SLI Premium motherboard. I have installed the latest drivers that I found at Asus website... Anybody else with this problem? What else can I try? Troll
desertfox 2 Posted March 13, 2007 Try installing the drivers from Realtek. That should solve your problem.
Troll 0 Posted March 14, 2007 Thanks for helping!! Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem... Maybe I did something wrong? I went to www.realtek.com.tx and searched for the alc850. Found links to drivers and codecs. Downloaded and installed them... Maybe I got the wrong ones? Do you, or anybody, know which drivers I need? Troll
Jabbah 0 Posted March 14, 2007 turn off hardware sounds and eax, solved the problem for me on my Soundmax HD audio
MamiyaOtaru 1 Posted March 15, 2007 So odd.. I fixed it by turning EAX on. With it off sounds would eventually cut out.
Troll 0 Posted March 15, 2007 Turning off hardware acceleration and EAX works, but then the sounds start crackling and popping... I just don't understand why the engine sounds won't play at first, but sounds just fine if i just enter the options menu and set hardware acceleration and EAX to off and then on again..!? Troll 0 Posted March 21, 2007 Installing Realteks latest drivers, just released, fixed the problem! In case someone else has similar problems; the new drivers for the Realtek ALC850 for WinXP are called WDM_A398.
