PONDLIFE 0 Posted March 8, 2007 Is it possible to enable AI squad members to target specific enemies without them engaging ? I'm trying to get a couple of snipers locked on to specific tartgets while i can concentrate on the remaining, but even with the command hold fire used as soon as i try and set up one he opens fire before i can set up the other! Just wondering if i'm missing an obvious thing here. I've tried messing about in the editor to see if i can get it to work, but no joy yet.. Regards.
quiet_man 8 Posted March 8, 2007 IMHO the default mouse command is "engage" = target + fire you need to use "target" only but not sure QuietMan
theedge_jinx 1 Posted March 8, 2007 Left-clicking issues an "Attack" order. (Target and fire) Right-clicking issues a "Target" order. (Target and hold fire if selected unit is ordered "Hold Fire" from before.) So, in practise, you do this: Select your Sniper with the appropriate F-key. Issue a "Hold Fire" order. Right-Click the target you want him to target. When he says, "Ready to Fire!" then he is in position to take a shot. When you want him to Fire, issue a "Fire" or "Fire at will" order. This is how it is done. But it seems a little buggy and right-clicking doesnt work all the time. Then you have to manually go through the target menu. PONDLIFE 0 Posted March 8, 2007 Thanks, just gave it a go following your advice and it works! I was pressing the wrong mouse button so they just attacked the target overriding the hold fire..Cheers for sorting that out.
mr reality 0 Posted March 8, 2007 For anybody else whos interested use the method TheEdge|Jinx posted as it's needed if you want to set up an ambush. Also i use it if i spot an OPFOR squad. This way you can give your squad mates indivdual targets and when you've finnished assigning the targets let rip. Always fun to watch
