Balschoiw 0 Posted February 21, 2007 There is a pinned hardware thread in the offtopic section. Why don´t you post your questions there ? PCI-E slots are not really faster than AGP ones from what I´ve read. They only pay tribute to the grown power consumption of the gfx cards as they provide some extra power. AGP variants of PCI Express cards are often neither slower nor with less functions and as hardware developers have discovered that people are uneasy to fully replace a good system with a new mobo and a new gfx card most of them are offering AGP variants of their PCI Express cards that have an additional power connector onboard. Surprisingly those AGP variants sometimes rank better as the PCI Express cards as they are less power hungry and as a sideeffect do not produce as much heat and therefore the coolers are more silent. I was in about searching for a good AGP card as I´m not willing to replace my whole system right now for only little benfit and a high price. My choice probably will be an AGP LEADTEK WinFast A7600GT-TDH. It´s better than the 7800 and the price is around 150 Euro which is a blast. Check out a review and benchmark here: Leadtek WinFast A7600 GT Quite some bang for little buck with the nice sideeffect of being silent and not as powerhungry as it´s PCI brothers and sisters while offering the same performance. I´d suggest you contact a mod to merge your thread into the hardware thread.
