Training missions and Graphics probs

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Anyone having trouble on the trainin mission where you have to tell your squad to blow up the car in the middle of nowhere...I'm an oFP veteran so kno what im doing but I cant even do this at the mo..I dont have any ammo and they dont seem to want to shoot it up..instead i get a 'GET IN' reticle rather than a 'TARGET' one...

Plus is anyone having any troubles with graphical anomalies for example you suddenly come across loads of white and grey polygons shooting out form the middle of the screen etc...sometimes lines sometimes flat surfaces of white and grey...is this my graphics card or is it the game??

Cheers folks

1. must be your graphics card as i've never experienced any graphics problems apart from the usual "texture popping".

2. have you tried pressing space (activating command mode), pointing over the target and pressing the left mouse button (ordering your squad to open fire on it)? BTW: your squad needs to be selected in order to receive your commands.

Cheers for the reply.. I'm an OFP veteran so commanding my squad is no problem although i cant seem to even do this... I selected them and told them to engage the car yet they dont open fire, plus I dont have any ammo,is that normal or should I be able to fire too!

My set up is

P4 3.2ghz, Windows XP, Radeon 9800XT with catalyst 7.1 which I updated yesterday... Is there any problems with 7.1 or later catalyst drivers cos these anomalies occured sometimes when I was playing WOW... Shooting lines coming our of the screen, only a few but in ARMA its much more severe, cant see most of the screen sometimes due to lines and flat surfaces of white and grey! I'll try and take a screenshot and show you....

Tell them to target car (2-0-1 I think) then fire not engage (took me a while to figure this out also they need to be in line formation! to get the trigger)

i just checked my drivers: i'm still using catalyst 6.12 crazy_o.gif . catalyst 7.1 is the latest version. i don't know why it doesn't work. have you checked if your GPU is supported?

i seem to remember that once you have your men target the car, you must give the "fire" order.

i believe they only automatically engange a target if it's hostile. the car is neutral, and empty. so you must order them manually.

cool, i tried that and it worked cheers dude! Still having trouble with the graphics though...I might revert back to a previous catalyst driver to see if that makes any difference! Any ideas on how you can take and save a screenshot so I can show the guys on here exactly what i mean???

Had a few problems with the training missions,

M203 practice in lane 3 = No Ammo.

M61 Grenade practice in lane 5 = No Grenades.

Target Car Mission (Leader course) = No Ammo.

I can also report no slow down or jerkyness while playing at 3,500m distance, 3.2Ghx P4 Dual, Nvidia 7900GTX, 4 Gig ram.

I could probably squeeze some more out of the distance, but I'm happy as is.

One problem I've noticed which bothers me a bit is the change in the vegitation/buildings textures between normal view and switching to a 'scoped' weapon, it takes around two seconds or so to finish displaying the new magnified detail level.

Well that's odd, i picked the ammo from crates on the weapons training in each lane and it was all there. (you sure your reloading it after picking it up?)

Leader course you have no ammo as it's training to get your team to fire on target (they probably think it was too easy for you to do yourself, hence no ammo)

Yes, tried everything. No problems with the other training lanes at all.

- Also, Thanks for explaining the 'Leader Course' issue.

OMG! I just tried the 'leader' training mission, the same one as above. I put my men in line, slected Target, then car at 12 o'clock, then 'open fire'...

None of my men moved. Then number3 shouted 'Engaging!' and started running off into the distance. One by one all my men did the same and ran off in different directions. Nobody fired a shot! I kept telling them to come back, which they did, but as soon as i ordered them to shoot they ran off again!

Help! Amusing as this was the first time i'm getting pissed off now. Giving such simple orders should be SO easy you shouldnt even need a manual!!!!! Or is it just me?huh.gif?

EDIT: Ah got it. It seems you have to use the command 'Fire' and not 'Open Fire'. To me these are exactly the same thing -does anyone know what the difference between them is?

Hi, I had the same trouble so I re-did the mission. In the games defence.....if you listen closely to the trainer he says tell your soldiers to target then fire on the car. In the command menu, there is a order to "fire" .....dont tell them to engage it. Hope this helps!
