Ordering European release from Canada/US

Recommended Posts

Hi. I hope this hasn't already been asked, but a search revealed that if it has, the answer is buried in threads ranging from a few dozen to over a hundred pages. So I thought I'd start a thread to make it easy for North Americans to find.

Two questions:

1- If I order the online European version that is going to be released next month, will I run into any multiplayer compatibility issues with those playing the North American version from Atari in May? I'd rather spare myself the extra three-month wait if I can, but the fact that Atari is changing the working title makes me wonder if it might end up having any other differences as well.

2- Will the online version come with a PDF manual that is as consise as the boxed version and will it have a printable key-reference chart?

Again, I apologize if this has already been covered, but I imagine there will be alot of North Americans wondering the same thing in the near future now that AA is getting more coverage on the internet.

All I can answer is this one. If OFP has been an indication, players from all over the world should be able to join in all games, as long as they have the same version.

Sorry I can't help you on the second one.

Thanks.

In the case of Flashpoint, there was no reason to wonder about compatibility issues. But when it is announced that the title will have a different name in North America, I guess the pessimist in me gets roused from it's slumber. I'm imagining logging into a "Combat Operations" server with "Armed Assault" and wondering if more than just the name will be different (being auto-kicked because some textures or sound-files are different or something).

Hopefuly only the name will change in the end and it won't be an issue. Why Atari would insist on a different game title is beyond me, but I hope they stop there.

Any suggestions for a Canadian looking to buy the 505 version? Amazon (UK) will not ship that game to my area. If anyone has succesfully ordered to North America, could you post where you did it from?

Thanks!
