Nightjay0044 1 Posted March 29, 2006 Hi, I'm in the beginning process of creating a rescue mission. What I would like for anyone who wants to reply is to give me all of their ideas in general on what they would expect from a rescue mission. Just any, think of what a rescue mission is and then reply with your thoughts. See mission creation is fun, but the hard part is trying to find a suitable plot, conflict and story telling sequence to not make it so boring. For example: Your mission is to follow your squad and attack the town of montignac or something like that. Well there you go, that's it, that has a beginning and a middle but obviously the end might be to just secure the town. Now personally I would just play that mission if I was bored and had nothing better too do. But do you see where I'm coming from here? It seems like mission making is slowing down in OFP right now. I want to bring back alive, well hopefully for me anyways and if anyone else wants too. Or maybe people start creating missions but never finish like me. So I say we start this new post and talk abou this a long way and use our minds to come up with something to help us mission makers out. Because I don't know about anybody eles but I have hard times creating missions. Thanks for your time..
crashdome 3 Posted March 29, 2006 If you are going to make a deep and involved rescue mission don't make it obviously a rescue mission. i.e a downed pilot, helpless VIP, etc... Make it where your goal is something else. Perhaps your squad is delivering supplies and you must make it within a specific amount of time. Meanwhile, a good friend calls for your help. Perhaps he needs rescuing. Perhaps he's fine but lures you away and then hits you last minute saying you need to find someone he is desperate to rescue. Those are just off the top of my head, but be creative by making it seem like the player has a choice in the matter - then lay it on him at the last minute that he/she really doesn't have a choice man am I mean sometimes.
