Fragster 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Hi there, I was just woundering, is anyone working on any new trains at all? The AEF one has been the only one around untill the polish map Lechistan was released, that came with a awesome train aswell. So, my question, is anymore in the works at all? belgerot 33 Posted February 6, 2006 I remember Liberation 1941-45 was working on a Soviet WWII Era locomotive, not sure of current progress but if you do a search, you should find a very nice video
Fragster 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Yeah, i remember that one. But then all news about it stopped. A steam train would be awesome ingame! I spose the hardest thing would be the pistons etc moving.

I could well imagine getting the valve gear to operate would indeed be a pain, but I'm sure it could be done. You could tie in the speed of the valve gear's animation with that of the train itself and it would look very good indeed. I've seen a tutorial on Colonel Klink's website which details how to do custom exhaust animations for aircraft. I wonder if you could use the same principles to make one for small jets of steam coming out of the valve gear Would look really good, but would need alot of time, and someone really interested in producing it. jafarin 0 Posted February 6, 2006 I belive that we will not see nicely working train in OFP. Main reason is engine. It don't support even vehicles of two parts e.g. Hägglunds Carrier BV 206: So if no one can't make this kind vehicle, why we should wait train?
belgerot 33 Posted February 6, 2006 Though the engine does have many limitations, there is always a possible way around them or to at least challenge them.

Odin from the AEF-Mod started development on a steam train using their rail system, and he made a nice video of it... Here's the link to the video demonstrating the WIP Later on Odin stated that he gave the stuff to Invasion44 mod so I guess one day (hopefully still before ArmA) we'll see a steam train using the current standard of rail systems, AEF's. belgerot 33 Posted February 7, 2006 I hope that one day it turns into a BR-
chris330 0 Posted February 8, 2006 I'd like to see a Black Five or an Evening Star (or any of the 2-10-0 class) or one of those Battle of Britain class ones making its merry way across the OFP landscape
