Indicating Targets

Recommended Posts

I have to admit I get a little frustrated when my squad can't see enemy <100M in front of them mad.gif this mainly happens in the forest although they are visible a fair way back.

I've worked out a couple of methods for indicating targets, these may be in the manual but I haven't read it.

Pull out the binos and when you have the bino cosshair on your TGT's right click on them and they will be indicated and your squad AI will then react tounge.gif

Also if you don't have binos, when you are looking over your iron sights line up on a TGT and right click and they will be indicated to the AI.

I found this helps heaps in the single player game, but indicating in the forest is near impossible confused.gif so if anyone has a good method for indication in the forests, let me know.

The right-clicking to assign targets is basic stuff for any OFP player, some seem to not know about the binocular method, though.

Am not very able to try a mission right now, as OFP freeezes on me every second minute or so, but the only other way of assigning targets, in a forest, if you can´t get a clear line of sight, must be something like choosing a group member and use the command menu to see if any of the enemies show up there, then assign target. AI is lower whilst moving through forests AFAIK, this to prevent from CPU overload or too much lag. When we fight enemies in the forest, many of us must die, I believe this happens when the AI soldiers are not as good hiding themselves as on the outside of those forests.

Just a though, am not sure. Anyway, pick a group member and use the command menu if you have spotted enemies yourself, at least one or two of them should show up in the target menu most of the times. Other than that, I would turn around and get out of the forest ASAP and then track the enemy down or just wait for them on the outside.

Cheers, thanks for the suggestion, but TGT's don't appear on the list till they have been indicated sad.gif

But I think I'll "DRY MY EYES AND HARDEN UP" biggrin.gif I guess this difficulty to indicate in a forest is realistic.

But I don't think I'll avoid the forests as they are such a great source of cover and consealment when making a tactical move.

Yeah, I learned this in the American campaign too, when you had been captured by the guerilla and were supposed to get some civilians out of an town occupied by russians. smile.gif
