Mission Editing Aspects

Recommended Posts

Okay everyone, I might need some help with this. That is why I'm asking for assistance.

Okay, I want to be a master editor someday. One of my solutions is I need to know what are all the aspects in mission editing? Lets start with my examples:

I classify mission editing into 2 different categories, "Internal" and "external".

INTERNAL

These are everything inside the mission editing interface. Such as:

1) Units, groups, waypoints, triggers, syncronization, markers, all the way to init fields, on activation fields, condition fields, game logics, all that fun inside editing focus.

EXTERNAL EDITING

This is for all the editing on your desktop, outside of the internal interface. such as:

1) Description.ext file, init.sqs, scripting, cam scripting, sounds and music etc.

Now my question is to you is:

Did I miss anything?

What are your beleifs in all the aspects of mission editing

or did I pretty much cover them all?

Thanks all.

I highly suggest OFPEC.com

The best thing to do is train yourself as well.  You'll learn all the different script lines that do different things, and you can use them in your mission.

Really, not many people can 'master' mission making without some serious scripting knowledge.

You can UnPBO my mission http://www.ofpec.com/missions/mission_detail.php?ID=660 here, which was really made to show basic briefing files, mission objectives, scripted cutscenes, waypoints, markers, and other things.  You wont find everything there is to know about making missions in there, but it should get you started...

Edit: Ok now that I actually read your thread closely, there are a few aspects to mission making.

To make an average mission, you need Externally:

1. Script .sqs files (for any scripts you make ingame)

2. Description .EXT file

3. a briefing .html file

4. an overview .html file

5. Mission . sqm file (which is what the mission editor makes when saved ingame)

You basically got everything right.
