Gibraltar Pride

Recommended Posts

For about a month now a mission has been sitting on the Project UKF's website, entitled Gibraltar Pride

It's my first foray into releasing an OFP mission, although I had been making plenty for myself since day one.

Anyhow.. addon's required..

Project UK Force's DPM Pack 1.0

Available from : http://www.project-ukf.com/downloads/ukf_dpmtrppk1.rar

JAM2

It is still available from OFPEC: http://www.ofpec.com/editors/mods/JAM/JAM2.rar

Colonel Klink's Fishing Boats

From: http://www.dc3d.co.nz/downloads/ofp/boats/cwk_fish.rar

GFX707's Bunker Pack 5

Still one of the best bunkers around by far!: ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/unofaddons/bunkerpack5b.zip

The mission itself is on the front page of the Project UKF's website..

http://www.project-ukf.com

Much insight has been provided, and it's sequel (Due for release Monday) will be much improved.

I know the number of downloads is quite high, but I can assure you that any downloads used are going to be used in as many missions as possible, otherwise it's just pointless downloading 20mb of stuff for one mission!

Let me know what ya'll think..

First elementary recommendation: rename the mission PBO file to conform to the mission's name. The file should be named GibraltarPride.pbo or similar, for easy identification.

Edit:

Nice intro.

Getting a missing addons:JAM message immediately at mission start but I can continue playing. Yes, I have JAM and it works with no problems for all other missions.

Did you manually code "JAM" in the mission.sqm file's AddOns or AddOnsAuto sections? rock.gif

GFX707's Bunker Pack 5

That might be so, but unfortunately it allows for warping, just as many buildings in OFP do.

SPOILER

It's a bit silly to stuff 4, 5, or 6 enemies inside, espcially since OFP isn't good for accurate CQB action. Again, warping ruins this. So does the inability to peek around corners, etc.

It's jsut pot luck and no skill once the player breaks through that thin opening cover.

Also, the Resistance leader joins your team once you near him. If any of the Russians are still alive inside the bunker, he's as good as dead, especially since he does not have a weapon and needs to be ordered to get one in the heat of the battle.

This part needs to be revised. Frankly, keeping him well guarded in one of the towns existing houses would be better for this purpose and you could do away with using the GFX addon altogether.

Had you wanted to make this more British, you could have used Architect's Euro Puma chopper instead of OFP's standard Chinook. But that would only be for effect.

Cheers for the input.. you've brought up a few glitches that haven't been noticed.

I can't work out how that popup about JAM can be fixed the only thing I can think of I'm afraid is starting from scratch, a very very annoying thing it is too. I'll keep trying to change it though..

INFO ON SPOILER: The whole point about him binding too you at that point is that the Russians get itchy trigger fingers (like some people in hostage situations have done) so try and do away with him ASAP. Top tip before going in: "Fix Bayonets!" Regarding the CQB issues, I may try and fix the Soviets to one place, see if that works.

The rest.. no probs.. I'll incorporate that info into future missions, particularly the warping thing. Never noticed it before.

And Architects Puma may be appearing in another "Crazy Ian" adventure shortly...

You wouldn't have to start from scratch. Here's an idea:

Make a mod folder with just the addons the mission uses.

Manually edit your mission.sqm file and delete all Addons and AddonsAuto sections.

That should clean up anything wrong.

Even with FIX BAYONETS (which didn't work for me in this mission - though I've used them before), the CQB concept is excessive for decent playing in OFP IMO.

One more thing: Russian defenses on the SW side of town are pathetic.
