modelling tubes

Recommended Posts

I think I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm modelling something with a lot of tubes in it, these tubes emerge on both sides of an object. It seems to me that I would need a lot of faces on the surface around each side of the object to accomodate the openings for the tubes, but I'd like to avoid having so many faces. Are there are tips or modelling methods that I could use to cut down on these faces while having the tubes open? Transparencies in the textures maybe?

So you want the tubes to be seethrough (so you can see into them) ?

That's what I'd like. If I have to I'll just make the ends black, wouldn't be a huge loss.

Well most addons to date have put black holes to simulate holes. It wouldn't look out of place and it shouldn't take alot of time to make.

May i ask, Are you making some sort of mlrs system ? smile_o.gif

The TOS-1 heavy flame thrower\MRL.

Most images show the tubes as black, I can live with it that way.

I have the prototype setup using it but I'd rather not use it for the final version; there are a number of good T-72s around. So far I've asked one person for usage permission, no response. Currently my main concern is getting the config working nicely.
