ZNorQ 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Some ideas of OFP2... SOLDIER TRAITS/ABILITIES ENGINEERS - Lay/Defuse mines. Repair vehicles. Reconfigs weapons. PILOT - Can fly Helicopters and planes MUCH BETTER. SCUBADIVING - Ability to dive.. BLACKOPS - Hide bodys (other things?) DEMOLITION - Explosives expert (setting, defusing (NOT MINES)) HEAVY WEAPONS - Ability to handle heavy weapon MUCH BETTER. SPY - Infiltration expert - can disguise himself. Ability to hack computers. MEDIC - ... e'nuff said.. The options above should ALL be available to one soldier. It should be up to the maker of the mission to choose if he/she wants a super character that can do all those things, or if he/she should make severeal characters that have just some of those traits each. Ofcourse, more trait/abilities ideas are welcome! EQUIPMENT SCUBADIVING - All neccessary eq. like goggles, breather, flasks etc. BINOCULAR - Can be many forms of Bin's; Laser (distance measure), zooming... NIGHT VISION - .. THERMAL - .. RADIO - (Noone can use the radio unless you carry this!) LASER DESIGNIGNATOR - Same as in the eq. introduced for BlackOp in Resistance. MEDKIT - No med help without this (AND you have to be a medic to use it.) BELTS - Belts with different amount of space holders / type of spaceholders (weapon, ammo, equipment) BACKPACKS - For more carrying capasity. FLARES - .... in many colors SMOKE - .... in many colors WATERFLASKS - ... ehr.. just an idea.. GLASSES - .. different shapes and colors.. HEADWEAR - Helmets, hats, caps, etc. TENTS? - ... Served some kind of purpose... *A comment to scubadiving; It would be a distaster if BIS descided not to have real water this time! Com'on BIS - anything else with be living in the past! We want swimmers! (Though you would drown if you carred too much...) SWIMMING, LEANING, JUMPING, ROLLING, CLIMBING. Do NOT leave these options out this time BIS!! A comment to the leaning and rolling; If you stand - or sit on your knees - you will be able to lean to look around corners. If you lay down, you'll roll... Climbing shouldn't been restricted to ladders... What about ropes, walls, trees?? DROP THE ACTION MENUES I really don't like having to scroll through that action menu to pick up something - or to climb a ladder - OR to enter a vehicle.. I really hate those menues FOR THOSE PURPOSES. Though I love it for CUSTOM made actions..! If I want to open a door - I want to point at it and press the USE button... If I want to enter a truck - I have to stand at the right side of it, point at the door - and press use.. Eg., Wanting to jump on back of a truck, I go BEHIND it and press use... Wanting to jump inside the drivingcabin(??) I go to the passenger side and press use while pointing at the passenger door ... (PS! It would be great if I could choose the seat I wanted to sit in (if it isn't taken - ofcourse! )) As for picking up stuff; Maybe one should point at the soldier - press use and a window popped up with hes/her belongings was listed.. A box of your own stuff should be listed besides it - so that it would be easy to swap weapons/equipment.. This should apply to players swapping stuff with each others too.. COUNTRIES There should be a standard list of a set of countries defined in flashpoint, but that should be custimizable by the maker. (for making fictious countries). The maker should be able to add and subtract the list - what ever pleases him/her. The country should be applied to the soldier, and each country should have it's rank list. (Private, corp., etc.) A soldier should be able to change country (defecting) during gameplay. Remember; Country don't really tell which country the soldier is from, it tells which country the soldier is servicing. SEX, RASE AND FACE I would really like a BUNCH of faces and a RASE attribute for the soldier. If I wanted to define a black man - I select the rase - and then the appropriate face I want. And I'm talking about LOTS OF LOTS of faces to choose from! The selection should be available through the editor. Ofcource, it should also be a player setup menu with is preferred look - but there MUST be a way to OVERRIDE this for for specific missions. Lets say I want a mission where I'm George Bush, I don't want the face of some other dude... And, in resepect of the female players; pls. add the ability to select women.. Another thing; Making custom faces should be easy. SIDES The side part should be abit more complex this time. In the battle - there should be 4 sides - (if anyone can see a reason for adding an/several additional sides, be my guest!) OPFOR (DO NOT CALL IT EAST!) BLUFOR (DO NOT CALL IT WEST!) CIVILIAN RESISTANCE Resistance should also this time be able to pick a side (BLUFOR, OPFOR, NONE OR BOTH). Now here comes the new part; The countrylist mentioned above in previous chapter, will have it's preferred side (BLUFOR, OPFOR or RESISTANCE). All soldiers with it's applied country would then automatically be selected for the right side.. Lets say I want a OPFOR with the Russians, English, USA and BLUFOR with Iraq and Afghanistan - that would be easy to do. Initially I was thinking that selecting a country for either Civilian or Resistance would automatically apply the same country to the other side. Eg., if you selected civilian to be Russians, the resistance would also be Russian - which would make sence... But I think the maker should be able to change this if HE/SHE wants that. Again, I just LOVE flexibility! PS! I chose to say OPFOR for English/Americans/Russians and BLUFOR for Iraq/Afghan.. Just to show the flexibility.. BLU- and OPFOR is just for picking side... Now, the next thing I would love is for allies in either BLU- or OPFOR to be able to change side during gameplay. Lets say Afghan descided to join OPFOR instead, this would be possible. Every soldier connected to Afghan - would now fight against Iraqies! They could even join resistance. FILTERS/CATEGORIZATION For filteringpurposes, one should be able to define its own classes. If I downloaded BAS'es delta/ranger pack, I should be able to pick my OWN class name under which it is sorted. If I wanted to call it MYSOLDIERS - that would be MY choice. Maybe we should have a superclass, a class and a subclass...? The country should also be one of the filters; Country - USA, Superclass - US ARMY, Class - 101st., subclass MEDICS... All the filters should have a "ALL", eg.; Country - ALL, Superclass - ALL, Class - ALL, Subclass MEDICS... This would list ALL the medics. (Ofcource, ALL would be available in Subclass too ) I must point out again; I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GIVE MY OWN SUPERCLASS/CLASS/SUBCLASS names so that I can sort the soldiers I want.. UNIFORMS An own dropdown box with all the available uniform's. Let's say I want to be on BLUFOR side - USA - but I would like a Russian uniform (I know it doesn't make sence) this should be allowed. This adds flexibility to the game - one that would be great. The uniform is defined with a set of pockets that would define how many SPACEHOLDERS there are in THIS particular uniform. Uniforms should also have attributes that tells the engine of it's camo value, armor rating, if it's a summer uniform - or a winter uniform Lets say one selected a winter uniform and running around in the desert, this would cause some serious heatstrokes for the solder? Flag's, unit patches and ranks should be EASILY applied via the soldier setup screen. There should also be an own texture list of all different textures for this uniform.. Each texture contains the camo value, dependent on what kind of terrain you are in.. For example, a winter camo in a summer landscape dosn't really help out much.. Maybe a user should be able to make his own texture/camo for each uniform? Maybe there should be a classification for this too - to define a user custimized list of uniforms available during the mission (same with patches). There should be the ability to change uniforms during the gameplay. Also, if a soldier advances in ranks, the rank patch changes automatically. SPACEHOLDERS; BACKPACKS, HANDS, POCKETS, BELTS One thing that annoys me with most games is that there is a predefined space holder size for the soldiers. In flashpoint this is a fixed size of 10 for each soldier - with the exception of medics and snipers - they got 4. (not counting secondaryweapon/binocular/nvgoggles/pistolbelt) What would be really cool was if the basic soldier in his undies could carry ONLY 2 things - one in each hand. Apply a uniform with 4 pockets - thats another 4 items (now 6 in total). Add a pistol belt with 4 mag spaceholders and one for a weapon. Add a BIG backpack and you got - lets say 10/15 - new space holders. A small backpack just 5? A medkit backpack which allows for the soldier to perform medical services in th battle field - and maybe adds 2/3 extra spaceholders? I really think the maker should be able to make his/her own choice how many space holders there should be. If he/she wants to carry a truckload of ammo, well, that should be his/her choice... Flexibility... (I personally like reality..) By the way; A backpack should not inhibit the soldier of carrying a main weapon and a lawlauncher.. Another thing; carrying things in hands would prevent the player of using weapons - unless it's the weapon he/she is carrying. RANKS All that's already there + the rest... Way up to general.. "God" might be overdoing it... I really think that that should be up to the maker to define the ranks.. Wether he/she wants american ranks, english, just 3 ranks (eg. Private, PFC, Corporal), or fictious ranks? All ranks should have it's own rank icon that whould automatically (if maker wants it) applied to the uniform. These icon's should be open for customization by the user, so that he/she can make one set for his own country. CAMO Camo shouldn't be a painted face - it should be paint that you applied ONTO the face of your choice. (Applies for body too - for those tough guys in teeshirts.) WEAPONS, WEAPONMODS, PROJECTILES AND MAGAZINES I would love to see mods for weapons, instead of 10 weapon models - each with its own mod config. For example; Take a M4... Add a M203... or a Masterkey... Add a REFLEX scope.. or another type of scope.. With or without silencers/supressors.. As for silencers, as I understand it it is possible for the user to remove these - and this should be possible in the game too.. (yeah, I know there are weapons with permanent silencers - in which case you WOULDN*T be able to remove this during gameplay! ) Camo; Each weapon should have a dropdown list of available camo's for that weapon). Different types of ammo/projectiles; armour piercing, HE, anti personnell, etc. Also, there are weapons that have the ability to apply different types of magazines - 30/100mag, belts, boxes.. etc. Maybe a complete weapon system should be divided into 4 categories; Bullet type (5.56 armour piercing), the magazine type (30round mag/100rd. belt, etc.), the basic weapon - and it's mods (silencer, scope, bipod, launchers) By the way; Projectile could be a grenade (M203), and the magazine could be a vest.. And, during gameplay - if you find another scope that actually fit to your weapon - you can have the engineer  refit it??.. Just a thougth. Now doing this config for all the soldiers would be a pain, therefore an own classification system - as for the soldiers - where you make classes and apply the classes to the soldiers rather than all the details for each soldier.. You could define the class and name it with your own classname, eg. M4/AP/M203/REFLEX/SILENCER/DESERT (AP = armour piercing, DESERT = desert camo), or M4/BIPOD/REFLEX, etc. The magazines are applied seperatly in the soldier setup. Maybe there  should be an own defined set of classes for these too; 5.56 AP 30rd., or 5.56 HE 100rd, etc. The interface for changing ammo during gameplay should be MUCH easier.. Don't use the action menu - rather an own requester that lists the available projectiles/magazines.. Lets say you have a M4 with M203 launcher - with a set of different colored flares, and some grenades. Lets say R key (this can be reconfig'd ofcourse!) is for reloading the already selected ammo type, while F is chaning firing mode (single, burst, auto, Grenade launcher), C is for changing the ammo type! Lets say I'm in Single shot mode, want to select M203 for a yellow flare launch. The weapon only fires Single and Burst, and the M203 contains a grenade. I press F twice to go to M203 mode, press C to change to yellow flares (lets say I carry green, red and yellow) - a window pops up - I select the yellow flare and the soldier starts reloading! In stead of the window requester, one could cycle through the available ammo types for that particular weapon - in this case the M203 - eg. pressing C until yellow flare is selected. Scopes; Far Cry came out with a genious ide of making reflections which would reveal the positon of the player. What is bad with the far cry version is that there is a reflection no matter where he was pointing it (dependent on sun position). Adding this feature in flashpoint would be cool. That sure would make it more difficult for sniper campers which can be a pain! A last thing about weapons; it is possible to lay down and fire off a LAW - so pls. implemend that! WEIGHT Everything should have a weight - which would have an impact the soldiers performance. Infact, weight on objects in general. Remember - all these options should be available for ALL entities in the game - not just the players. WEATHER ADD SNOW and SNOW textures! Oh, well, that was more then I indtended to write.
