PhilippRauch 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Hi! I would like to print out some OFP maps for our most beloved islands . I then impregnate them with some clear rubbersolution (the stuff to make maps waterproof) so i can write with a felttip on them to plot arty or whatever... and wipe it off afterwards... My question now is... is there a "better" way of capturing the maps then to make a screenshot of the map in editor pasting it in imageeditor and stitching all parts together? i would like to have the 6digits (from wgl) on these maps.. but doing it with the capture&paste method is a lot of work.... so.. is there a way to make it a bit easier? (like opening the maps in wrpedit or whatever?) thanks in advance for any helpfull comments!
jgk6 0 Posted April 13, 2004 IIRC, there are PDFs of the BIS maps on the CDs. They're gigantic, so whatever reader you use needs to be able to tile. Otherwise, you get a nice detailed page of the far northwest corner of Nogova.
benu 1 Posted April 13, 2004 Maybe the topography cheat will help...
PhilippRauch 0 Posted April 13, 2004 well, thats a good hint... atleast the standards... the 6digit grid can be added.. i hope... i will give it a try... (hehe approx 17x24 in. are these babes!) but only the original 3 islands have maps on the cd... on res cd there is none unfortunately... but anyway thanks alot!! still i would like to make similiar maps from others like meekong etc... PhilippRauch 0 Posted April 22, 2004 ok.. so far i got the correct gridsize and i cleaned up the file abit, so its easier to work on (i.e. replace multiple objects with a single object, like the waterobjects etc..) i even typed the 000-128 gridsteps.. but... please, can someone verify, that the BIS .pdf maps dont have the heights for the various hills? i just saw, that on my .pdfs there are no heightnumbers.. i hope its just my pc with some fonts missing or so... without heightvalues a map for arty is not that useful.. and it seems these .pdf maps have been scanned from "reallife" artworks, so there are many objects on them, but they dont have the accurate shape they have ineditor! like some trees look liketriangles.. or bushes look like houses.. i hope i find a way to replace them easily.. if anyone knows something "secret" in Adobe Illustrator to do such thing.. please let me know! peace! PhilippRauch 0 Posted April 22, 2004 ok.. this cheat is nice.. and its the one those .pdf maps were done with(mainly) but it doesnt export the height numbers... so they arent in the .pdfs nor in the emfs ... doing it by hand? mmmh... maybe when i setup the second screen.. *g* .. i will see..
