Carl 0 Posted November 27, 2001 OFP is the best game i have ever played and the A.I is pretty advanced adn i really have no problem with it but theres one thing i find really nagging. this usually happens in black op missions where you have to be stealthy. this si something i can live with but i just find it wierd. theres a lone ruskie guy patroling the base and no one is around in total darkness so i shoot him and he dies and i even hide the body. but for some reason everyone on teh map gets alerted and alot of the tanks your supposed to blow up move away. thats wierd in my opinion, they're telepathic...... although the A.I is very good they are very stupid too my funniest experience was in the capture the docs mission. i sniped all teh guards and killed the tank crews with all teh lights on and they didn't see me!!! its like they have no eyes but magically know your there if a loner gets shot and killed 1000m away. MAsta KFC 0 Posted November 27, 2001 I think your referring to that single player mission which you need to blow up the convoy and its nightime (forgot the name). It seems to me that to encourage stealth in that mission, if you kill any guard, no matter how silently, it sets off the trigger so other forces move in. Quite unrealistic, i agree. I miss the days of Rogue spear which u could take out 30 unsuspecting terrorists with a trusty silenced MP5-SD5. But then again, i guess that's quite unrealistic too... The Blind Sniper 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Yes, well.. unrealistic = Rogue Spear Game where a guy with an Uzi, with a range of about 100 metres, shoots you between the eyes first shot, at about that distance. And thats a half-assed raghead terrorist, not a spec-ops guy. I wish I could see through bushes & hills like the AI can. Actually I dont... I just wish the AI couldnt. A tree shot me the other day. It cant have been the AI guy at the base of the tree, because he was on the other side of a hill to me... only the top of the tree could see me.
Satchel 0 Posted November 27, 2001 Although the AI in Flashpoint is overall good, it needs finetuning. There are some examples; such as the AI heavy grenadiers don´t use their GL´s properly, they seem to have difficulties to use this weapon, when you´re not within a 100 metres radius or so. Or the sniper that uses his rifle not in the long distance role, but too has problems to spot and aim at targets. Even if you are constantly shooting near him, he just lays there on the ground. The opposite can be observed with normal rifle soldiers, i got shot by them although they were some hundreds of metres away and that with the first bullet fired by them as i was prone. But there seems to be a certain distance at what an enemy soldier doesn´t react to your presence. I did place to groups on the desert island, both elite and facing each other seperated 300m or so, the firefight started immediately after mission begin. Next run i placed them closer, and nothing happened, they were just standing there without reactions. The part that imho needs the most tuning is how A.I. soldiers react to direct fire, especially to fire with HE weapons. They should first of all spread, and second they should see to get their asses out of the firing zone if they are outgunned, just lying prone won´t save them from a grenade salvo. They should cover themselves when advancing, means leapfrogging, or bounding overwatch. A part of the group moves while the other is covering. Even when soldiers retreat, they´re not just running away normally, there is also a part of the group that covers while the other is moving, so the opponent doesn´t get turkey shoots on us.
