Problem with ofp gold edition

Recommended Posts

Hello,

The installs without errors, but when I try and load the game it crashes right away. All I get is the little splash screen then the windows error box about sending in a error report. I tried to install some of the patches but the same exact thing happens. I click on the patch .exe I get the little splash screen then it crashes.

I am using Windows XP media center edition, on a toshiba widescreen laptop with directx version 9.0b and a Geforce FX 5200 video card.

What "patches" did you install?

If you have the Gold Edition, that should install OFP 1.30. You would then need to upgrade to V1.46. Is that what you did?

Also, did you try running the OFP Preferences Program first, clicking on the AUTODETECT button there, before running OFP?

If not, try that when OFP 1.46 is installed.

I did try to install V1.46, but when I click on the patch.exe I get the small ofp splash screen then it crashes, just like the game .exe

If I were you at this point, I would do a full uninstall and manually delete any residual OFP directories that are left.

Then I would check my hard drives for errors and do a defragmentation.

After that I would install 1.30+1.46 again.

BTW, what Nvidia drivers are you using?

I just uninstalled the game, did a chkdsk and a defrag, reinstalled still with no luck. The patches still don't want to install also. I am using the latest nvidia driver 52.16. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help, it looks like its a faulty CD according to the ofpfaq link you sent me. Kinda wierd they still have these for sale a year and a half after they found out about the problem.

It can happen. Where did you buy it BTW? Online or in a retail store? New or used? Just curious.

You wouldn't be a Ba'ath official attempting to train anti-coalition forces on an OFP simulator, would you? wow_o.gif

Oooo, and Yarr, see if you can get it replaced with OFP: Game Of The Year edition. If they won't, it is worth the extra cash!
