Red Hammer-Repulsion mission

I am struggling to destroy helicopters with stela whilst soldiers pour in from all sides, Stela reloading means I have to hang round the 2 tents. Any help would be much appreciated

Dont bother using Strela's. It gets you killed for sure

in that mission (defend St.Pierre, 2 Chinooks and paratroopers, correct?)

Fill up fast on AK-clips, and find an nearby bush. Then either shoot(rapid single shot; not bursts!) directly at the gunner of the first Chinook, which hovers above the town to the north(because this one is a sitting duck!) OR generally at the chopper, until it crashes down,

once he has unloaded his freight.

Problem is, _this_ chopper kills ALL your buddies, (and you) before they even can begin to react against the incoming paratroopers.

Since the second chopper circles (and thus only fires partial time upon you; not when he turns out towards the sea-south) you got some time now to fight paratroopers and kill most of them. Also, you can change position, if need be now; safely. Your buddies can help you now as well.

To complete the mission, you got to shoot down both choppers, and this is done easily with the AK.

I did not even need to rearm a second time at the crates, 8 clips should be enough for the overall (confusing) situation..

I used another method. I took the Strela and fired two times against the chopper that was above the city killing a couple of parachutes at the same time. If you're lucky, one Strela is enough. I then shot down the other helicopter while it was dropping of some enemys. The next thing was to take out the arriving truck with a Strela.  The rest of the mission was like a walk in the park.

There's very little time for making mistakes doing it the same way like me.

It's interesting to find out how you all manage to complete your missions and which strategics you use to achive your goal..

I did the same. I ordered my men to attack the paratroopers from the 1 chopper, while i shot down the second with a Strela. I killed all the men from the second chopper with sniper rifle. I reloaded the Strela and shot the 1 chopper from the air. My team killed the truck and every body that was jumping out, using Sniper and AK47.

just to add to the conversation a bit...

I used the Strela to take out the first, landing helicopter (toward the beach) while it was still trying to land. That killed most (if not all) of his soldiers, and they're far enough away not to be a problem.

Getting the circling one was hard. For me, it took two hits to take out the chinooks, so it was alot of shooting and dying and reloading. Once I got good enough with the launcher, I dropped the chinook. Like the above, when the truck with resistance showed up, I wasted the whole truck with a rocket. (accidently wasted a civilian truck, too, thinking it was them. oh well).

The rest was just mopping up. It took numerous tries, but once I got good enough with the launcher, it wasn't too hard.

Position yourself outside the  tent closest the UAZ, facing up the hill into the town, over your right shoulder will come the first CH-47 lock onto it with Strela and take it out just as the first paratrooper comes out (No sooner as you could miss).

One shot should take down that chopper, now turn your attentions to the second chopper landing behind you on the beach, as you go through the tent pick up more strela ammo, position yourself just inside tent, reload strela, take aim, fire.

This will either knock the Chinook on it's side or do some damage, take more ammo for Strela and reload and prepare to fire again.  If the choppers still on the ground fire again, if it's taking off wait till it gains hieght and overhead before firing otherwise you could miss.

Oh yeah, I placed my squad facing the beach in the prone position, with open fire order.  Once the beach is clear go to see what's left of the other chopper and crew, the safest bet is to go up into the hills and take the remaining troops from there.

A fun mission this one.

First thing to do is to arm with strella missiles either in briefing or QUCKLY from tent behind you. stand just outside the tent door and shoot the Chinnooks down when they start to hover to neutralise the US attack. Shoot the one over the beach first and then the one to the north. (Issuing "ALL - Danger" won't hurt either)

You should be able to get both choppers before any enemy troops get out if you are fast.

I then reloaded and used another strella to shoot the resistance truck that then comes down the road to your left (w) to knock them out. I think sometimes there is a small attack from the N road too.

There is also a hidden objective that can be completed: wondered where that resistance truck comes from???

Rearm and take your squad into the N woods and up the hill to the top. To the West there is the resistance castle. (Alternatively follow the road up the hill.)

Capture the castle to earn a bonus objective.

If your replacements don't appear in the town (which happened to me) group your squad & head up the N exit road towards the destination base (you'll pass the reinforcements sitting in their truck) and the mission should end
