matte3d 1 Posted May 19 Hello, I have a couple of questions about the graphics engine and the PBR materials. Under direct sunlight, the game looks amazing with great lighting and all, but as soon as the sun goes away and overcast conditions set in, everything becomes extremely flat. This is due to the lack of specularity on all materials/shaders, especially vegetation. Is this still a work in progress, or is something missing in the overall shader settings? The same issue occurs under rain; the vegetation completely lacks specularity and wetness. Somehow, this effect is visible during night/rain when using the torch, but overall, I think a lot more tweaking is needed. It would also be nice to significantly increase the displacement used on the terrain, even if it's low resolution. Right now, it still gives the impression of an old game with flat, plane-textured terrain. Don't get me wrong, it already looks really good, but I couldn't help noticing these issues here and there. 🙂
Lone Penguin 15 Posted September 5 I agree, Reforger during golden hour looks amazing, and looked really pretty at noon in the early versions of the game (I think 0.9.5), but whenever it gets cloudy or rainy the environment turns out very dull. Also artificial lighting during a rainy night sometimes looks strange, the reflection on car bodies like the Humvee looks like jelly when lit by a red or green flare. The wetness of the car makes light reflect too much like a mirror I think. And night light reflecting on wet concrete has this kind of twinkle that hurt the eyes, I don't know if it's because of AA or something else. Hope this gets reworked in the future.
