Theon 0 Posted April 16, 2003 Hi all - my first post (cue the last post music). A Bit long, but i need my story heard After researching and researching...and more researching - i have come up with one conclusion in regards to the bugs within OF and OF:R. There is a guy who's sitting in his office thinking "any game non-microsoft won't work on any of my operating systems properly". This of course isn't entirely true, considering there were bugs in games like AOE1 and 2. So the reason i say this is because i run XP and i was halfway through missions in OF and all of a sudden the sound completely went, then about 20 seconds later my machine rebooted, but before it rebooted i got an error message. This message lasted all of a half a second - so i made it a mish (means mission here in australia) to find out what the message was saying. After about 2 months i found it was saying "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I rolled back the sound card driver, then updated it using the driver i rolled back from. So i never got that error message again (touch wood). Now the problem i get is that i'm halfway through a mish and all of a sudden the sound goes super slow-mo, or all crackly in the speakers....... Any suggestions? Theon - Australia.
theavonlady 2 Posted April 16, 2003 Sounds like you have a Sound Blaster cards. If you've got a VIA chipset motherboard, things will just be compounded. Glad you did your research. You could've started by searching The FAQ for words like "crackling", "sound blaster" and "via". This is one of the earliest known hardware issues vis-a-vis OFP and you'll find plenty of old exisitng threads that discuss these issues if you use the forum's SEARCH facility.
